Great food in general. Mains a little bit on the small side and you definitely have to order sides.Take your own ketchup if you?re having the chips as they refuse to stock it - which was a little bit unfriendly/odd for a pub. Even a gastro pub.But good service and great (if a bit pricey) food.

A smart restaurant in the middle of nowhere. I wouldn't call it a gastropub as it has no discernible pubiness and you wouldn't want to rock up here for a pint post-hike. Sunday lunch roast beef was underwhelming. Very rare beef needs to be melt in the mouth and full of flavour. This was neither - just chewy and bland. The roast potatoes had a commercial catering feel to them. The rest was OK. There was nearly an international incident over a spectacularly inept bit of service, which they eventually recovered from.

A superb stay in the barn here - large spacious area with a wood burner, comfy beds & great kitchen facilities. Perfect for a relaxing weekend away with friends or families. Beautifully located for long walks in the quiet countryside. We also enjoyed a fantastic meal in the pub itself - great service, atmosphere & food. All reasonably priced. Would highly recommend the lamb dish!

Only dined in the downstairs restaurant but fabulous conversion and really nice food, albeit maybe a little expensive but thoroughly enjoyed everything.

Went here for dinner...didnt stay. Food was really good!I had buttermilk mushrooms for starters, which were delicious, hoggett for main, which again, was amazing...particularly the sauce! Some lovely little touches, like an unexpected amuse bouche and some amazing doughnuts at the end. Would definitely go back.

Had a prebooked Sunday lunch for 8, but were not able to have a table together as it was so busy. Service was also a little slow but food was great and menu was varied and intersting, prepared to a high standard. Staff were attentive and helpful with toddler. Car park has electric car charging facilities. Very pleasant setting with country views and walking paths nearby.

Food was amazing, lots of carefully thought about drinks in a historic building. Owners have done a great job in restoring and building something special.

Spent two nights here between Christmas and New Year. Accommodation (across the road in converted piggery) was warm and luxurious with a large comfy bed, claw-foot bath, coffee maker, quality toiletries and ample space and furnishings. The pub was a wonderful refuge from the wet and windy weather, featuring a log fire, real ales and fabulous food (would highly recommend the gnocchi especially). Just wish the portions had been a bit more generous. Breakfast was also delicious, including home-made muffins and (in my case) an extremely tasty scrambled eggs on toast with oyster mushrooms. Only real negative was being charged a compulsory £21 tip on departure. I certainly didn?t begrudge the friendly, hard-working staff, who were wonderful, and I had indeed been planning to leave a gratuity. However, I do think these things should be voluntary, not least because there is always a slight uncertainty in my mind in these situations as to whether the total amount actually goes to the staff on top of their wages.

Called in by chance, driving nearby past. It's sort of of the beaten track, but not that far from the main A623 Nr Tideswell . It's a lovely restored, 12th Century Inn, & accommodation . Unfortunately we just had a drink & didn't have the food, but looking at the menu, it seemed pretty sophisticated & I'm quite sure very tasty. Another time, we'll definitely try.
