Went for some tea and cake. There was a range of selection of drinks and cake to choose from. They looked nice, my other family member commented that it was a bit too sweet when they had a victoria sponge cake.
Nice decoration, music playing in the background, and welcoming staff and guests. Would love to come again!

Weve been to this cafe/tearoom a number of times now and always been happy with the service and quality of the food.
However, the last couple of times have been extremely disappointing.
On both occasions the only staff member that seemed to be taking orders never came over to take the order, after waiting 20 mins we went over to give them the order but was told it was table service only and someone would be over soon.
After a further 10 mins still no one came, so we decided to go elswhere, along with a table of six other people.
We gave them the benefit of the doubt on the first occasion, but twice in a row cant be a coincidence, so we shall not be bothering our selves again, as they clearly cant be bothered either..
Both times they appeared short staffed with tables been left uncleared and numerious people having to remind the staff member about orders etc.

OMG. Extremely welcoming place. Very nice room with fabulous, garden view. Can't praise enough the manager Charlie. He did much more than expected to meka our stay unforgettable. All staff very friendly and focused. Love the place. We never come back to the same place but The Family Tree will be an exception, I am quite sure. HIGHLY recommend this place.

Great good. Service was poor, took 30mins or longer for takeaway sandwiches !! Very poor and at £20 for two sandwiches I expect better.

This is a small family run establishment tucked away in a fabulous location for hiking in the Peak District. We would absolutely stay there again.

We have previously had a positive experience coming her, however on this occasion it was terrible, we will never return!! My daughter ordered cream profiteroles which were very sore, cream had badly turned. Sent them back and swapped for a different desert, however within the next 24hours my poor daughter was vomiting!! Management said they'd look into it when I complained about food poisoning, and obviously they said perfect food standards were met and maintained there end, of course they were, that's way the cream was so off!!

Lovely place with owners who clearly care and were trying to make sure we were ok. However, not sure all the serving staff cared as much... with some verging on being rude. Surly and slow would be my description.
Despite this, a location place to stop for beer and tea - both very much appreciated.

The employed staff are wonderful, however the chap that seems to be the actual owner is in my humble view arrogant and pompous at best. He seems himself too good to even exvept plates if you dare to walk across with them as you order drinks. It seems that's meanial tasks for the young people he employs I would guess at the lowest rates.
Its an ex pub that is now a café, a pretentious one, but still a café.
The adjacent road is the busy A6 and can itself be problematic, the car park is a case of chance where you park (not too much of an issue for my big banger). The police use this place to erm make money....I mean check the passing vehicles for safety (obviously a sticker or all numberplate is a huge safety issue for Derbyshire Constabulary.
Sadly for me, this is a passing point from now on, well until the next owners turn up, as it does seem to have a big turnover in that respect. Better places in Cromford or even Matlock Bath.

Lovely garden at the back. Toilets (clean) outside are down some steps. Accessible path to garden. Friendly staff. Lovely cheese scones - ask for them to be warmed. Dog friendly. UPDATE: probably the best halloumi & falafel baguette in the area!
