Visited tonight for the first time and we were very impressed.
The restaurant itself is beautiful inside.
The staff were so friendly, welcoming and hospitable. Nothing was too much trouble.
Impressive drinks menu, never been to a restaurant with so many whiskeys! Mocktails were lovely.
The menu is really good with a variety and lots of different things or varieties compared to the usual Indian restaurant offerings.
Presentation of everything was excellent and as meals were cooked to order, so spice level can be adjusted for some which was gratefully received with our group! Portions are spot on, not massive but certainly enough. They do smaller portions of some for children (and if not on the kids menu, just ask if it can be accommodated).
The pickle tray was really tasty and freshly made poppadoms.
We had the chicken wings to start, personally I wasn't a huge fan as the coating was very thick and crispy, this was personal preference as I'd have preferred non-battered and marinated wings, but they were cooked well.
The naans were all cooked well, although not the biggest or fluffiest I've had, tasted nice, and for smaller appetites, one between two is enough. I wouldn't have the butter version again as wasn't much different to the plain but was still nice. The chilli and the cheese ones were a hit.
We had chicken korma which was less sweet, coconutty and thick to the usual kind of korma you get from takeaways, and had a very mild spice to it, but this made it feel far more like a curry than a pudding with chicken in!
The caramelised chicken Bhuna was beautiful, as was the tikka masala.
The rice is served separately and we had a mix of steamed, saffron, egg fried and mushroom. All tasty and well cooked.
We were too full for dessert but was nice to see a good variety of some authentic Indian desserts too.
The owner/manager seemed genuinely grateful for our support and we will definitely be back in the new year.
A gem in Clay Cross for sure!

Great food and service. If I had to give any feedback for improvement it would be to increase the amount of pickle etc in each pickle tray. There was very little.
The rest of the meal was great.

Where to start. Walk in see cobra on tap. 1 pint please. Apparently its only there for show, so receive a tepid bottle instead. Okay. Order poppadoms, quick negotiation to order them(strange),pickle trays arrive,3 teaspoons each? Never known an Indian restaurant to ration the pickle tray tbh,new one seeing carrot on it aswell. Get to mains, think they went across to Tesco and bought ready meals from taste of it,never had such a watery curry in my life. Could make a better one myself; ignoring the fact they brought out 5 mains for 6 people. Dont get me wrong lovely atmosphere, but should stick to serving drinks rather than food. Piss poor

Rikshawaz was an absolutely superb experience from start to finish, this restaurant is a true gem that has brilliantly elevated the dining scene in Clay Cross. The moment we stepped inside, we were impressed by the stylish and vibrant atmosphere, complete with its unique open kitchen that fills the room with incredible aromas. The size of the restaurant gives an intimate, comforting feeling which for us offers the perfect setting. My wife and I had eaten off the Lunch menu and the food was masterfully cooked with authentic spices and the freshest ingredients. Coupled with impeccable, friendly service and a menu that offers exciting variety, Rikshawaz delivers a first-class dining experience that we are already eager to repeat.

I normally take photos of my food, but I was too busy stuffing my face!!! Had an absolutely brilliant meal there tonight. The food and atmosphere was top notch, along with the staff. Don?t let the small venue fool you as it?s like stepping in to a different world when you walk in. Shall definitely recommend and go again

Visited on a Wednesday evening, when we arrived we were greeted by a friendly lady who cleaned a table and got us seated very quickly. We were given drink and food menus straight away and our drinks arrived within 5 minutes. For our mains, my partner ordered a chicken korma with chilli chips and I ordered a chicken tikka masala with egg fried rice we also had onion bhaji's and garlic naan bread on the side. The chicken korma was beautiful, cooked to perfection and the chicken was tender, the chicken tikka was average, the sauce was lovely and had a good kick to it (I asked for it medium spiced) but unfortunately the chicken was very dry and tough. The onion bhaji's were ok, I would have preferred them without the pomegranate and sauce on the top but the presentation was great, the naan bread was average and the rice and chips were very nice. The restaurant itself looked beautiful but it was absolutely freezing cold and we had to leave our coats on the whole time! I have no complaints about the service, the two ladies that served us were lovely and very attentive. The bill came to £62 with a couple of drinks. OveralI, even though I'm a little bit disappointed, I would consider visiting again in the future and trying something different if they sort some heating out in the restaurant.
