From the website it looked as though the prices were £15 for a 2 man tent. But when I arrived it was £27.50. I only had a small tent. I thought this was steep. The pitch they gave me was in a field that was sloped. Wasn't too much of a problem but for small tents it can be a pain. It's a huge place and there were toilets and showers nearby. These seems busy all the time. I just managed to grab a shower. The showers were clean and hygienic but I thought pressing the button every 10 seconds was a bit too much. At least 30 seconds come on. I along with a few other small tents were in bed early due to hiking next day but the noise went onwell into midnight. Shouting screaming and swearing and that was just from a group of girls. Not a bad site but not appropriate for a small tent and hiking next day. Maybe cordon off a small part of the field for hikers ???

Nice campsite with beautiful views. Very busy with lots of families so facilities like the toilets always full. Food was nice, but over priced for the quality- the local pubs are fab tho. Great to be able to hire a log burner and fuel.

This is a great little campsite. We stayed Thurs, Fri and Saturday nights on a very hot weekend in July. The Thursday was lovely and quiet, Friday and Saturday was sold out and busy. Still lots of space though to pitch up, even for a big tent. Parts of the grouse field is on a slope, but its a big field so easy to find a flat bit. Two toilet blocks, both were fine though one was significantly older than the other. Staff were very friendly, great cafe and bar on site, there was also a kebab night on the Friday and pizzas on the Saturday. All food we had was delicious and reasonably priced. The pub opposite the entrance was also great for food and drinks. We would visit again but would prefer to come through the week when it's quieter. It's not the easiest place to get to, we came from the north east. Once you're off the motorway it takes a long time to get there on small country roads. Very tiring, but worth it for the peace, tranquility and beautiful views.

Spoilt. Holiday with the guy running his 4x4Disel. Sitting in it for no reason and fumes in the tent bad attitude when ask to stop told to get lost ask site mangers to step. In.

We recently stayed at this campsite in the Peak District, and overall, we had a good experience. The location is absolutely fantastic and made a great base for exploring the area. The staff were lovely to deal with and really helpful during the booking process, which made things easy.
As young adults ourselves, we were surprised by how many large groups of the same age and younger were there, and unfortunately, quite a few were loud late into the night, despite the site rules saying it should be quiet by 10pm. We?d expected a more relaxed atmosphere, so it did impact how restful the stay felt.
We were on a campervan pitch (with a roof tent) with electric hook-up. While it was great to have the hookup, the grass was quite overgrown and the edges had long stinging nettles which were hard to avoid. In contrast, the tent pitch area nearby was nicely mown, which helped with morning dew.
The facilities were brand new and looked great, but they got very hot inside, especially on warm days, and the shower temperature couldn?t be adjusted. They also weren?t as clean as we?d hoped due to how busy the site was. Some ventilation, like a window or two, or even air-con, would have made a big difference.
On a much more positive note, the on-site café was excellent, possibly the best breakfast bap we?ve had. Definitely worth a visit even if you?re not staying there.
All in all, it?s a beautiful location with potential, but we?d recommend checking in advance what kind of crowd to expect if you?re hoping for a quiet stay.

Campsite was fine for basics. Toilets hadn?t been cleaned in at least a couple days during for our two day stay. Facilities are new, warm and bright, but inadequate. There are only 3 toilets for men and 4 for women with 7 showers, for two fields of campers (50-60 tents when busy?). I can recommend for the off season, but if it?s full it would be unusable, there was used toilet paper on the floor and the facilities were covered in grass. The contactless check in also had an outdated map for a toilet/shower block which are currently closed, and didn?t include essential info such as wifi password etc. which I couldn?t then ask for as the reception had shut.

Great location and amenities- new shower block with showers, toilets and taps. Forgot my sleeping bag but luckily reception lent me one which was very appreciated! Had a great time and would definitely come again- thank you!

Lovely site, great location, but they know it and it's pricey...
£27 for 1 night in a back packing tent! And £15 for a full English breakfast that wasn't huge (tho good ingredients used)
New shower blocks a bit random and a poor use of space in my opinion...would have been better a little less 'posh' and more functional 4-5 showers to serve a busy campsite was a bit of a design error...
Otherwise this place has great potential.
Location, cafe, evening food, and a bar, you just get fleeced for it??
++++In response to the reply of the review, we did query the amount charged, and the lady serving us was adamant it was £27 for one night in a backpacking tent (durston mid, so you know the size! Lady with brownish hair and glasses), and we didn't have a car, which we stated at the time....(We hadn't booked but had emailed 2 days prior to ask/inform of our intention) there may have been more showers in the new block but if you walk in, you'll defo only obviously see the 4 in a row (better signage maybe?!) breakfast was good, and I fully support local, well grown produce, but again, else where in the peaks, you can get more for less, and I've tried a hell of a lot!( The old smithy monyash, the dining rooms, wirksworth, the yondermann wardlow are 3 examples of loads better value and easily as good quality)
But, it is a really nice spot, and I would recommend if ya can't think of any other nice part of the peaks...??

Excellent cafe and lovely general store and lovely feel in the main but a few points for improvement. The shower and toilet facilities were a tip by 11 am and need staff to have some oversight of them. We stayed Friday and Saturday night. The Friday night was splendid. It was family orientated but lively and a good vibe. Saturday night the site was was full and it tipped into rowdy. It would have been good to have been told that there was a wedding party on that day. The drumming was intense and inescapable. I have sensory processing differences and if I had have known about it I would have asked to have a pitch further away from the party. We were right next to it. Also, a staff presence on Saturday night would have been helpful to calm some people down who were totally intoxicated. Finally the Polaris and another pickup were coming on and off site at a right old pace which is dangerous with little kids zipping about.

After recently staying at Newfold Farm campsite in Edale for a second time, we were really impressed! They have new toilet/shower facilities which are fantastic, a lovely cafe/bar and a shop on site. We were pleasantly surprised to have live music while making the most of stonebaked pizzas, which were cooked on site.
This campsite is the perfect spot for some great hikes, and we were in the ideal location for a hike around Kinder Scout.
Overall, great vibes and I look forward to coming back!

Great campsite, good facilities.

Location, proximity and facilities are good. The field is a mud bath if it's been wet and raining, it slopes, it's very noisy due to inconsiderate groups. The peaks was a place for walkers who came back from long walks tired, went to the pub for a meal and a pint, crept back on to a campsite and quietly hunkered down for the night, now it's just mobs of families and young groups bringing their living place and habits to a place which is supposed to be peaceful and is spoilt!

We stayed here for 3 nights recently for our second visit and can't recommend this campsite enough. Great pitches with fantastic new shower block - best ever. Staff are friendly too
