Sadly this restaurant didn?t meet my expectations. We ordered sour dough for starter and sadly it was not proper sour dough. I had the chicken breast roast, the chicken was dry, yorkie was burnt, cauli cheese didn?t taste of cheese and the roasties were too hard to eat. The expensive price does not match the food. It was absolutely freezing inside too. One waitress seemed rushed and slightly rude when taking our orders so will not be coming back.

The chef is amazing. Food on the Saturday evening was absolutely fantastic.Service a little chaotic at check in and in the bar over lunchtime but would absolutely return. Such good value for B&B.The bar itself and the bedrooms were very clean and warm.Disappointed to pay £8 for 24hrs WiFi (no signal) and it didn?t work in the room.

Abby the young lady serving us was brilliant. Amazing location, we parked our motorhome in the car park opposite for some walking around the reservoir. Food was lovely, hats off to the chef. Was cold inside and some beer and food off which was already a limited menu.

Arrived at 1pm to find restaurant was cold - no heating that I could see, apathetic welcome. Menu was limited and expensive, so walked out after 10min of being

Visited here after a cold afternoon walking nearby, hoping for food. Was told reservations only, even though there were hardly any people dining at that point. We had a beer near the open kitchen and saw a waitress taking beers to the cooks and overheard conversations about how tables had been waiting a v long time for their food. So maybe a close escape. Won't be back.

No heating on , very cold. No hot drinks as staff said didn't have time to make them. Couldn't have a meal unless booked in advance. Charge 4.99 for one hour WiFi. One good thing was that the meal was well cooked and tasty, pity it went cold so quickly.

Fantastic food, good vegan options too. Really lovely welcoming atmosphere.Visited in Jan 2024 and unfortunately the heating was broken, so a little cold, but food and service were still excellentNearby activities: Walks around lady bower reservoir and further up the road Derwent reservoir or even walking along the rambling pathsWalkability: Plenty of walks, some accessible and others notFood & drinks: Excellent food, really enjoyed it

Stopped here overnight in a camper. Lovely location?. Nice clean pub? can?t comment on rooms as didn?t stay in one. Some of the staff were really trying their best to help, others seemed stressed and a bit done with the whole customer service bit, to be fair it did seem busy with day trippers bussed in. Most fraught beers/largest were off over 2 days, and it?s really frustrating not to be allowed on pub wifi when there is no signal to phone or leave the reviews all the signs ask you too. We really wanted to stay for lunch ( 7 of us) but lack of one chair and/ or. foresight to switch another booking onto a different table to free up a bench scuppered that. Hot food wasn?t swerved outside. I got the impression the team there need empowering a bit more and to feel more connected with the success of the inn overall.

Amazing food, friendly atmosphere and brilliant service. Abi our waitress, went above and beyond to make sure we were both looked after - from the accommodation to the table service.
