Was trying to call to get through to report crackheads outside your place that had a puppy outside on a blanket shivering to death , couldn?t get any answer. Even the dog warden can?t be called nowDerby needs a quick instant way of reporting dog abuse where someone will actually do something , especially when the staff are walking right past it

Lovely staff and facilities. We adopted a Daschund however it wasn?t meant to be due to unmanageable fear aggression. The staff are fantastic with the animals, however RSPCA Derby need to revise their practises in relation to aftercare and support post adoption, helping new pet owners to keep pets in the home.We were faced with many challenges which we made the branch aware of, however we were given no support other than some reassurance over the phone. Please revise your policies so that more fur babies can stay in their forever homes.

Went to see a dog. We got on great. My house was suitable and secure. Unfortunately I was not going to be available at the time they wanted to do the inspection. I offered the morning or the afternoon on the same day I just wasn't available that specific hour but they decided I would not be suitable Because I couldn't change my plans which by the way was a funeral

Very friendly kind staff. Helpful and understanding. Clearly have the animals best interest at heart. Would be helpful if the website was updated more regularly with animals available.

I found all staff to be pleasant and helpful and the animals are well cared for. I got my second rescue dachshund from here in June 2022, my older dachshund appeared to get on well with her at the rescue centre so the following week, we went and fetched the new dog home. At home, the dogs clashed quite badly and I was really worried and upset. However staff from Derby came to my home to see the dogs together, gave me loads of tips on managing their behaviour and after a few months of close supervision, the dogs settled and they are really well bonded now. The dog behaviour expert even let us attend her puppy training classes free of charge. I was so grateful for the over and above levels of after care that we received to make the rehoming a success ??I wouldn't hesitate to get my next pet from Derby RSPCA.

Came to meet a dog see if our dog was compatible. Unfortunately they wasn?t and I was sad ? but hopefully the dog finds a home where she feels safe. When we came we was able to use there yard, to let our dog blow off some steam. This really helped us keep our dog calm and under control as he managed to sniff out all the smells. the staff made him feel welcome, He said hi to everyone, sniffed the place out so after that he was in a good mindset to meet a potential new friend. he could tell the dog was nervous and was being a good boy about it. Unfortunately the other dog wasn?t to sure but it was well worth trying as that was what the visit was about. Thank you for welcoming us to come to day and best wishes Rex and Liv

Jail for pets unwanted and unloved.Waiting for new families to foster and adopt. Some need the care and attention that they haven't found before and some just need a place to live and retire happy and content. And the rest just need a playful and loving home. So share your thoughts and home and time.

My family, frenchie and I arrived at the centre with hopes to meet and take a beautiful pup home. We travelled from South Wales to Derby to view our matched pup which was a 320 round trip (6 hours) Upon arrival we had the VERY basic of hello?s and led to and told to wait in the reception area. My son and I went into the yard to stretch out legs given the lengthily car journey only to be told to go back inside as we weren?t allowed outside ? which we apologised and adhered to the rule. We were greeted a few moments later by 2 female individuals who did not introduce themselves, make small talk or even acknowledge my family or dog which let?s be fair is simple hospitality (in wales anyway). We were taken to a caged pen and told to sit in the out house thing and wait for the dog. Again no interaction nor fuss over the dog to gain a bit of familiarity between them and us before dog visit or at least just ease the dog in the caged unfamiliar surroundings. They left us to second guess what was going to happen as nothing was explained to us and none of us had experience in rescuing an animal. However sure enough they returned shortly after with a third woman watching from the side. The pup came into the pen which I was overjoyed with and greeted her very briefly before the women told me to let all the family and dog out at same time (none the wiser I followed their instruction) the dog was having a-lot of initial attention off me before my dog came out. My dog was encouraged to go and meet the pup which she quickly approached myself and the pup both remained on leads. Mine gave a little growl towards the pup with no intent to attack resulting in pup yelping and understandably going back a bit to the dog handler which I assume this is due to the age and lack of socialisation. The lady overreacted and yanked the pup up and held her on her shoulder (like you would if you were nursing an infant). She vocalised quite abruptly that we won?t be having the dog. I begged and pleaded with the ladies assuring that my 2year old frenchie posed no threat to no one in the pen including the pup. The lady again stated ?no you can?t have her your dog is too aggressive?. In a desperate attempt to show the lack of aggression I unclipped my frenchies lead from the harness who took no interest in the pup or staff and instead wandered around in her own little world even peeing quite blissfully in the yard. I continued to display the control of the dog walking around in the yard with my dog at the heel (more or less). My 2 year old was also walking with me and the dog. To no joy the woman rushed the pup out stating she was going to speak to a male staff member leaving one woman in the pen and one watching from the side. All the while my frenchie remained blissfully unaware of what?s going on and continued to explore the yard. The lady returned moments after saying that the gentleman (without coming to visit the pen) had decided that we would not be having the dog due to the level of aggression displayed by my dog, bringing the pup back nestled into her shoulder even though my dog ?was clearly a danger to the pup?. I again tried to plead with her to give us another chance as surely a dog can?t be judged by being a little vocal again reminding her my family had woken up at 6 am to make this trip and desperately wanted to give this baby a forever home, reiterating that we would never had chanced visiting if there was a risk to staff or pup. However despite these pleas she point blank refused to the point she was extremely reluctant to let me even touch the dog claiming my dog and I had scared her even though no one shouted. We were shortly escorted from the premises with no explanation and no farewell. The contact with the dog and staff lasting approximately a mere 6 minutes. I would really urge the centre to review any cctv as I feel the poor management of the situation created a rushed unnatural environment which I turn triggered this ?incident? destroying our hopes of having the beautiful pup. *Update* bought a pup and they get on great

Two weeks ago I adopted a beautiful tortoiseshell and white cat called Marnie who is the best £150 I have ever spent. She came to me neutered, vaccinated and with up to date treatments fully detailed in the adoption pack. She?d obviously been taken great care of looking at this and her clean, well equipped surroundings. The centre gave me excellent guidance both there and within the adoption pack on how to care for her. They really made sure Marnie and I suited each other's needs and got it absolutely right!
