THE BEST CURRY IN DERBY CENTRE. It?s a modern twist on traditional curry, small menu but that?s a good thing; high quality food all freshly cooked. Very attentive staff, and good price. Also, the paratha is the best I?ve ever had - and I know my paratha.

Keralan Indian restaurant, excellent choice of dishes a mile away from the typical madras and vindaloo.
All the food served, by exceptional staff, appeared to be extremely fresh.

Wow!
Had the absolute pleasure of dining here for lunch with a friend yesterday and I have to say
I will definitely be back!
So many dishes to try out? the menu is well thought out.
We tried the lamb chukka, prawn masala, non-veg thali and the poori and I have to say it was truly an authentic experience.
At the recommendation of the waiter, I found the lamb chukka to be most delicious- the flavours of the spices used, the tender-roasted lamb, whole semi-opened cardamom pods, fresh curry leaves - a true flavour explosion!
The prawn masala, although lacking in masala, with the expectation of heat?it was delicious enough with a coconut cream based curry gravy and plump prawns.
And the thali came with a chicken curry with similar curry gravy as the prawn, so it was also not spicy, a truly authentic dholl, and a very tasty aubergine curry accompanied by fluffy basmati rice, a roughly sliced red onion and grated carrot salad, and a soft drink.
We had opted to have poori as the bread with our meal and this was served as delicious fluffs of soft bread to mop up the yummy gravy.
Seeing how we were enjoying it all, the waiter asked if we?d like to try some paratha and boy did this not disappoint! ?fresh, flaky pastry-style bread which is definitely a must order with your meal!
I was dying to try the payasam, but because I was running late and we had spent too much time enjoying the ambiance of this restaurant, I didn?t have the time.
I can seriously recommend Houseboat Restaurant in Derby for an amazing menu with lots of delicious flavour, great service and many, many options to suit all tastebuds.
See you soon!
PS. I forgot to take pictures but I promise to do so next time.

I took my daughter for dinner at Houseboat restaurant and this is one of the most authentic Kerala(South Indian) food in Derby .
From coffee , Porotta, meen (fish)pollichathu, appam , biriyani, Pazham pori and beef curry , kakkairachi (mussels) masala - everything we ordered was cooked well and was tasty ..
the decor and ambiance was nice and vibrant and staff were friendly and welcoming ..
Would be going again and highly recommend this place .

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Houseboat in Derby, and it was an experience to remember. The ambiance is warm and inviting, evoking the feel of a traditional Kerala setting right in the heart of the UK. The decor and subtle details really add to the authenticity, making it easy to feel transported to the backwaters of Kerala.
The food was fantastic, offering a genuine taste of Kerala's unique flavors. Every dish tasted freshly prepared with the right blend of spices, true to the traditional recipes. From rich curries to delicate appams, the menu offered a great variety, allowing us to explore Kerala cuisine fully. If you?re a fan of South Indian food, this is a must-try!
Equally impressive was the service. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and incredibly friendly. They were happy to explain each dish and suggest options based on our preferences, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
Overall, Houseboat in Derby is a gem for anyone seeking authentic Kerala cuisine in a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended!

We were actually looking for a cafe around lunchtime but stumbled across this restaurant. They do a sort of taster special for lunch, comprising of 3 different curries, rice and a Southern Indian bread.
The meal was very good and I can't wait to go back for an evening meal.
The waiter was very helpful and even brought us some extra chicken, after we had confused them when taking our order.
Overall, we were quite impressed.
