*Avoid at all costs*. What kind of market is this? It's just a large open area with a handful of non-interesting stalls. You could see immediately that the council have made a massive mistake here. The place was dead. I assumed when the market reopened it would have a variety of stalls like the old days. No stalls, no charisma, nothing to lure you in. Avoid it. We walked in and walked straight out again.

Three years ago there was two markets one the Eagle Market and two the original Market Hall. Both were half full so the idea to renovate the old Victorian Market Hall made sense ie combine the two.
I spoke to quite a few traders and they were quite pessimistic as to the future of both markets as they would not be trading in the renovated Market Hall as they were not required.
The new renovated Market Hall has been restored to its Victorian splendour with no sense of what a Market should be. Feel quite sorry for the original traders as they could have played a part.
Apparently the blueprint for ideas for Derby Market came from Trinity Market in Hull so I'm informed.
In Hull the traditional grocers etc have been kept on and the street food was an add on after extending the building to incorporate the new additions which sat well. I have visited Trinity Market in Hull and its brilliant.
As for the future of Derby Market Hall I can't see the current set up extending into the new year.
Sad but true.

There was nothing there it was a very underwhelming part of town. The kids wanted to go so i said yes because we had nothing to do in the holidays then we got there and there was only food. They weren?t happy and neither was i.

Great venue, had some nice Greek food, but it was very quiet for a Saturday afternoon, the kiosks could do with displaying their menus better somehow as there was nothing eye catching and all the units are identical.
It's a big space and it could do with more market type stalls, there's literally a prosecco bar upstairs and that's it, nobody in there.... I so wanted to love it and want to come back.... But I'm not sure I will.
On an up note there's a fab bar called Market Porter.... Great staff, good selection of drinks, and probably the busiest section of the market hall... Give it a visit.

Please, rebuild this food court(actually market), such a waste of what I pay taxes and absolutely wasted potential. There were a lot of choices to make a better market however it?s the worst one

They have made a good job of the make over but it doesn't feel like a proper market. A lot of food stalls around the side.a butchers and a few bread stalls. Some pop up stalls.then just a massive empty space.to be honest you would be better visiting a proper market town.

So today the Aspire Wrestling Academy took there show to the Derby Market Hall for the very first time and what a venue, what a spectacle it was let me tell ya pal!
We arrived around 10 ish and left the crewe setting up while I nipped round the corner to greggs for my morning meal deal.....you canna whack a decent bacon sarnie with a bit of tommy ketch and a good old mocha pal!
Headed back to the market hall and set up stall on the front row with a prime view of the entrance and ring ?
Just before doors opened at 11 I was bosting for a tiddal so headed straight to the ode toilet facilities. To my surprise 3 of the sinks were bust and out of use with only 1 available sink to use and the ode tap wouldn't turn off so water was just gushing out and wouldn't stop. Very surprising with the venue being so new, although there were a number of Leeds and Derby supporters in the masses watching on!
Some good matches on show today with Muzzy picking up a good win over the ace man, Derby getting one over on Leeds and the tag team champs picking up victory in the tag turmoil match.
The ex gladiator man Wesley Nzereko picked up a win over rich Robinson and that blokes a unit let me tell ya pal, looked like he enjoyed the moment!
Went to check the ode food units out at the interval and went with a gyros from tony. Tell you what pal, what a man tony is, what a gyros it was a beaut and took me a good 5 mins to devour, full of flavour, full of all the meats, yummy yummy in the ode tummy!
The wife won on the raffle and we headed home with an ultimate warrior ? dvd and a bag of hero's chocolates.
All was good, cracking show, cracking crowd, cracking atmosphere and the ai camera picked up footfall of just under 2500 people in and out the joint throughout the show.
I'd say the best venue we have had the pleasure of performing and watching at!
Keep up the good work everyone and hopefully we will be back here again soon ? ?

As anyone repaired the sinks in the mens downstairs toilets, yet. 3 unusable and one continously running water. Another example of bad facilities. Well I cannot see where £35,000,000 has been spent and to have a fire exit already closed off is not a good sign. Only been open 10 weeks and in the men's ground floor toilets only 2 sink can be used? Why such poor facilities?

Not worth it. Tat stalls and overpriced junk food. No traditional market stalls ( Fruit, veg etc )

With the colossal amount of money spent on the building, you think they'd have done some market research (lol) to work out if Derby actually wants what has been provided to them. Shortsighted and essentially a glorified food court / events space. Not a market.
