I've been here 2/3 times now, but not been for at least 18mths, until today. The whole place is scruffy and dirty definitely needs a deep clean, the downstairs smelt like vomit when walking through the door. The counter upstairs was absolutely filthy & so were the sides were some foods were being prepared, the till drawer was wedged shut with a plate & looked like it was full of bacteria same as everywhere else that's visible, the coffee machine was disgusting too. There was 2 cleaning detergents on the side of this machine as well ( that's DEFINITELY A NO NO)These products SHOULD be kept in a cleaning cupboard (if there is one that is)looking how dirty this place is. No gloves or nets was worn by staff, especially the guy with the long beard, one member of staff had an apron on but to my amazement she had a T shirt over the top of it ... I think the owner of this cafe needs to take a good look around to see that these issues need addressing urgently.

BEEN LAST FEW THURSDAYS REALLY BAD NEEDS A DEEP CLEAN DIRTY.FOOD RUBBISH WIFE'S GLASS SEEN BETTER DAYS DRANK FROM CAN COLD DRINK,TABLE HAD TO WIPE WITH WET WIPES VINAGER ALL OVER TABLE AND PREVIOUS BITS OF FOOD HYGIENE NEEDS LOOKING AT .BROKEN BACKS ON CHAIRS STAFF JUST LAUGH ABOUT THEM NEED REPLACING WANT LAUGH WHEN SOMEBODY GETS INJURED PLACE LIVES OF REPUTATION OF ORIGINAL OWNER KNOW THEY WERE GOOD PUT SOME SPARK BACK INTO THE PLACE AND GET A GOOD COOK THATS OUR GOOD MEALS ARE ? DONT FOR GET HYGIENE AND CLEANING

Been in a few times recently food has gone down hill, family members ordered meat and potato pie and the mash came cold but the plate was red hot! Not sure how that?s even possible! ?? The glasses that they bring you for you drinks are always scratched and dirty too! ?
The staff that take your order though are incredibly nice and friendly, especially Vicki who always greats you with a smile and asks how you are as you walk through the door! ?

This place is really clean with friendly owners and in good areas indoors and outdoors to eat

This cafe has a very organised owner and the food well prepared and cook
This cafe is a propper locals place.
Handy for the market and the big breakfast toast and coffee. Great value at 1p pounds 45 pence / picture of breakfast sent to cafes website

Food OUSTANDING, very tasty, service also perfect.
The place itself is what it is. A community place that local people call home from home. It was great. I am so pleased I ignored the few bad reviews and took my guests here. Full tummy, smiles all round. Excellent value for money. A place is often more than it seems. Best wishes. Highly recommend.

Food was cooked perfect. Had roast chicken dinner with plenty of veg. Good value for money and efficient service.
What perturbed me was the waitress with the dark long hair TOLD us it was cash only before we sat down which was rather direct. Would have preferred a welcome instead.
On finishing she declared my bill was 39.50 (3 of us).
I asked for the bill politely. No bill coming. Declared the bill verbally again to which I paid feeling disgruntled on ignoring my request. Albeit this is not unlawful I give no stars for poor practice.
I have never ever had this experience before anywhere.

To all the people that are moaning about this place, stop it.!! Real chessy folk Love it the way it is. The foods great and the same as you would do at home.
The staff are proper sound and the yes the place needs a bit of a revamp but not to much. Thus place has stood the test of time and if we lose it, it rips a bit more heart out of chesterfield. We must help to keep this place going because the council won't.
It's brilliant and so are the staff.

Worst food I've ever eaten.
Firstly asked for 1 pie with mash and gravy NO VEG. RECEIVED THE SMALLEST PIECE OF PIE YOU COULD IMAGINE WITH OUT GRAVY AND VEG.
SECONDLY THERE WAS 2 PIECES OFF MEAT WITCH IF PUT NEXT TO EACH OTHER WOULD OFF ONLY MAD A SMALL PIECE.
THIRDLY PORTION SIZES WERE HORRENDOUS WOULDN'T OF FILED A SMALL CHILD.
Fourthly ordered cottage pie with mash and veg and received a pile off mash half a table spoon of mince meat and veg NO GRAVY

The atmosphere at woodheads was amazing. The food was great, the staff were lovely, and you really felt at home there.
