We stayed for one night and had the tasting menu in the evening. Chef and Patron Mark Aisthorpe, is a thoroughly brilliant chap and the food he created was simply outstanding. Because we booked late there was only a choice of one room which was the smallest room, however it was really comfortable and clean and made for a very cozy stay. there were bath robes included as well as all the toiletries, biscuits, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, fresh milk on request from the bar and even a little teapot. It was a very aesthetically pleasing room complete with a cuddly Highland cow to finish it off which became our adopted mascot for the night!
If you are looking for friendly owners friendly atmosphere and top class food from a very experienced chef as well as a wonderful comfortable room for the night this is the place to go. The surrounding area is also very beautiful, there is even a pond in the village with ducks which made for a nice evening stroll. Breakfast was also superb well cooked and filling. The pub itself was very clean and very well kitted out whilst still being cozy and traditional.

Simply Excellent. Fantastic food, service and setting, we highly recommend the Bulls Head, Holymoorsaide.
We tried the Taster Menu, it was absolutely delicious. The flavours were so well balanced and built up in the mouth.
There were four of us (granddaughter, daughter and grandparents), we all thoroughly enjoyed every course. All the courses were fabulous, but the highlight for us was the apple sorbet served with raspberry souffle, absolutely amazing.

Repeat visit and the food was as outstanding as before. We travelled from London to treat family again who live locally and the lunch alone would have been worth the journey there and back.

We had the 5 course tasting menu and we're very impressed with the service. The head chef clearly puts a lot of time into his dishes and is very knowledgeable and proud of his work. They ask you how much explanation and backstory you want for the dishes at the start of your dining which is a great feature this restaurant has.
A standout dish for me was the optional Cornish Crab dish which was so rich and presented exceptionally. Each dish is meticulously presented in fact, with the waiter/waitress serving sauce in front of you for some dishes too. Liquid nitrogen flowers were also a decoration featured which really made the experience excel.
I think this tasting course has been appropriately priced, of course it is not your everyday pub food so I think it just fits into adequate pricing. They also have a good selection of draught beers including Hawkstone IPA. I do believe that 330ml of Harrogate water is not well priced at all at almost £3.
The location is very nice and quiet with some ingredients also being sourced locally which is good. The fairly secluded location does mean that there is practically no signal which can be a downside. The WIFI's ext. connection wasn't providing internet when we came here which also was a downside.
The interior was very fabulously decorated with a fancy Victorian pub feel. Very comfy leather chairs in the bar area however in the restaurant seating we had a wobbly table and a creaky chair. Of course these little things do not take away much from the incredible dining experience that you receive however at this price point even the smallest of inconveniences become very obvious which is something the restaurant can think about. Whole restaurant was clean including toilets which was good.
The souffle was also overly sweet in my opinion and there wasn't any other flavours to it unless you put on the muscovado custard which was also overly sweet and underwhelming. On the other hand, the peach ice cream was absolutely incredible however a very small taste-size only portion is served of this. I think the portion size of the dessert was fairly decent but more ice cream could've been given as in this case it refreshes you more than it fattens you or makes you feel sick. My partner however did really enjoy the souffle so I won't deduct points this time.
All in all, this is an amazing stand-out restaurant in East Midlands and deserves the many accolades it has achieved. I will definitely be returning either to try some A la carte menu dishes or when a new tasting course menu is unveiled.

Lovely staff and top notch food. I?m not a foodie at all but I really appreciated the whole dining experience.
The room was perfect for what we needed, stayed the night before visiting Chatsworth as it was nearby and good value for money. Clean and tidy with a lovely bathroom. Nice rustic feel with the original woodwork on show.
Very much appreciated the visit.

What a delightful evening meal my partner and I enjoyed here. We had the A La Carte menu and the quality and presentation of the food was perfect. Staff were extremely attentive and helpful. A perfect experience for our first visit having just moved into the area. We will certainly be making regular visits for more of their great food set in a relaxed and laid back setting.
