Popped in for a coffee and a bite to eat . Very pleased tasty locally roasted coffee and great bakewell. Ended up having a good look around and they have a really well thought out selection of garden products and plants . Thanks folks for running such a nice place so well.

I called in (for the first time) today to buy three fence post caps. They were priced at £4.80 each. A much more complicated 'acorn style' finial in the next tray, was £3,99! With a heavy heart - because I try to support local businesses - I went home and bought online identical post caps for 90p each. From Cornwall. Presumably, regular customers at Riverside arrive by helicopter, so don't mind paying five times over the odds for their goods......

Not a huge place so limited selection, but the only garden centre selling turf. Very helpful staff and a reasonable selection of plants given the size.

This visit was just a quick look around, bought 5 perennials plants for a tenner so good compared to some other garden centres near by. Staff friendly car park good an good for disabled. Cant comment on toilets or cafe as i did not use them.

We took a 40 minute drive out to really come and look at the composite decking style and quality. Before we commit to the idea for our property. As my partner saw an add online, and thought it looked a nice place to visit too. Compared to garden centres around our immediate area, this place we thought was rather lacking in selection and thought a bit over priced for the quality of most items. And a bit run down internally. Items just plonked on shelves no terribly inviting well put together displays willing you to buy. We thought initially we would take a look round spend a while and buy some items but we left empty handed and a bit dissapointed we had come so far. The composite looks like a winner for our project, as you cant always tell on pictures online. So it wasnt a total wasted journey but not a memorable journey to be repeated, unfortuately just not for us.

Staff shocking walking around with a cup of tea in there hand and pointing in the direction of where my goods maybe.Then had to load and unload several bags of chippings with no offer of assistance.Took my money with no problem.

Ordered the fire pit I'd been looking for from the website, specifically 2 available so paid and drove 2 hours to collect, only to be told on arrival that they'd issued a refund as they don't have any. News delivered with more of a shrug than an apology. Very unimpressed with the customer service, there wasn't even an attempt to show me any alternatives. Beware of ordering anything online!

This garden centre in my opinion has the worst customer service I have had the misfortune to experience. If the customer service had been better I would have spent several thousands of pounds on the rest of the materials for landscaping my garden. How can any business survive in this climate without decent customer service! There are plenty of garden centres around this area that are only too pleased for you to take your custom. Please be aware, bare that in mind when making large purchases.

Garden centre very good with helpful staff and excellent selection of plants. Unfortunately cafe / coffee house does not exist any more. A real shame as it was excellent. There is a small takeaway which offers drinks and a few snacks. I understand under present circumstances that keeping the cafe as a going concern must be difficult but please remove from the road side signage the mention of the cafe/coffee shop. However the present staff are extremely good and cannot be faulted. Thanks

Having just moved to Chesterfield I was eager to find a local,friendly garden centre however I wont be putting Riverside at the top of my listI visited today with my daughter and was disappointed by the curt,downright rude attitude of 2 members of staff there. It is certainly difficult times currently but with customer service like this they dont reflect well on the company.It is a shame because the plants looked well tended and a good price but it didn't make for an enjoyable experience.

My wife drags me round all the local garden centres on a regular basis - for plants and tea shop visits. Riverside seemed to get new management a couple of years ago and has improved in leaps and bounds since. The hard landscaping side is great (we bought a lot of fencing and stone from them this year) and my wife always seem to come home with more (nice quality) plants

Very nice area but the food was very cold and the cheese not melted, there was a scarce of tuna, and the aesthetics were appalling, truly disappointed we came here for my birthday meal.

Ordered premium quality topsoil to BS standard and its absolutely shocking. It is primarily concrete dust and sand so therefore has no quality and is concrete coloured and dry's to a solid crust on the surface on top. The profuse weeds now growing out of it are of many different types, a lot of which I can't even recognise. I have 2 other borders within 3 ft which have never grown any of these weeds and still don't despite being empty beds.Wet in bag so couldn't tell when topping border up.
