Went in today just for a recent bank statement and ended up having to wait an hour in a waiting room with my crying 1 year old and I am pregnant. Made to feel like rubbish by other customers to who began moving away from me or full on staring at me as my toddler cried as an hour is a long time for such a young child to sit still for! Felt like the only reason I was seen in the end was because on one wanted to continue to hear my child crying to go home. This was a horrible experience! When I asked why I couldn?t have gotten a bank statement from the front desk, I was told that it causes to much of a big line and they get bad reviews! It takes 5 mins to do! And there was no one behind me either! If it was me I?d of preferred a bad review over queueing rather than this. Will not be coming back here anytime soon!!

Depressing experience this morning. I simply needed to show the original copy of a death certificate to a member of staff, as requested by the Nationwide bereavement team. Unfortunately the two staff at the Chesterfield branch insisted that the only person who could deal with this was a man working in a back office. They didn't know when he would be available but invited me to sit and wait. After 10 minutes I asked why they couldn't deal with this themselves. No reply other than 'go downstairs and wait'.
I gave up, went home, called the bereavement team and spoke to a really helpful chap called Richard. He worked out a way to sort the problem over the phone. The difference between his 'can-do' attitude and the learned helplessness of the two staff at the Chesterfield branch could not have been more pronounced.

Nationwide cash machines/ATMs will accept deposits, which is very convenient when they're closed. But, for people who have a cheque but don't have a deposit slip, the on-screen instructions don't tell you what you should write on the back of the cheque. It's also rather anxiety-inducing that it gives you an envelope and the beeps madly until you put your cash/cheques in it, seal it, and reinsert it into the machine.

Called in today for some savings advice and waited about 30 mins. We were greeted by a nice young lady called Mia, who told us all the different saving options and rates available, which helped us to make an informed decision. Having the banking APP on our phones, Mia kindly showed us how to set them up. What a nice friendly young lady. Excellent customer service.

I visited the branch last Friday, 3rd February about a query on my account. The lady I saw (sorry forgot her name) was so friendly and helpful even helping me to understand online banking better. A credit to your team. A wonderful person.

Staff are always friendly and ready to help when ever needed. Do be careful when you visit as the Bank can be quite busy sometimes.
