Not sure how many chippys other reviewers have tried, but the food here was terrible !
Fish was tasteless and drenched in oil, the chips were refried from yesterday I'm sure... The had the consistency of glass, and although golden - tasted burnt.
Within 30 minutes of this feast, it was a genuine gamble as to which end of me it was leaving ?

Found this little chippy while on a hike. This is a real gem. ? The small cod and chips was a good portion, couldn't finish all by myself, hubby happily helped out.
We had mushy peas and curry sauce and they were amazing! All home-made and delicious. The fish was tasty and the batter was crispy and not greasy at all. The chips was nice too.
Freindly people, lovely place, you can eat in too. Don't miss it poeple, when you are in Ambergate!

We just dropped in for fish and chips, and they were amazing !
We ate in, it's very cosy and friendly !
We chose the meal deal for just £9 .
Great size cod, chips and peas.
All beautifully, freshly cooked.
The cod was perfectly cooked in light crispy batter. The chips were lovely and crunchy and the mushy peas were yummy with just right level of salt..
best in the area in my opinion.
Lovely, friendly and always very warm and welcoming.

Been twice now this is just like when I was a kid when you could find a decent chippy amazing food and best curry sauce in England and ill put my life on that chips are fantastic crispy outside fluffy inside probably the best chip shop I've found in 20 years

Amazing Chip Shop with some exciting & different options alongside a traditional fish & chip shop menu, including a great Vegan Fish option so something for everyone. Really friendly owners, couldn?t recommend enough!
Vegetarian options: Great Tofish & Chips, Frickles and a homemade Vegetarian Daal option.

Fantastic chippy. Stopped half way round a walk yesterday and the food was perfect. I'm glad I don't live too close because I'd be as fat as a pig in weeks!
