Cosy spot for coffee and cake, if a little expensive.

Coffee is just from a push-button machine. Nothing special. Typical soulless tourist cafe.Tea for two is a pot barely enough for one.No GF / gluten free options, in case you?re searching for that.

I fell down near the Derbyshire Emporium. The ladies in the cafe came out and helped me into the cafe. They looked after me so well and provided me with coffee and water to drink. They were so kind and caring. Thank you.PS The coffee was good too!

Do not believe the statement saying buy 5 drinks and get 6th free with the loyalty card stamps! We visited on Saturday morning and had a loyalty card from a previous visit with 2 stamps on. We bought 5 drinks and when I went to pay I was told we only got 1 stamp per visit not per drink. I did question this and said we had been given 2 stamps on the previous visit but the female assistant was quite rude and repeated it was only 1 stamp per visit. The card clearly says buy 5 drinks get 6th free. Very disappointing service. The drinks were good though.

Heed other reviews and don't waste your time or money - terrible experience and would get zero stars if possible. We chose this place, as it's in a prime location for directions. Only having a few tables and being dog 'friendly', we arrived early at 2pm to meet a friend for 2.30pm. At that time (others did free up), the only table available was 2 tables pushed together, laden with used crockery and cutlery, which we pushed to one side. Over the next hour, not one staff member acknowledged us, and we eventually separated the tables, rather than have a pile of used crockery/cutlery next to us. Resentful and half-hearted 'attempts' were made to clear the table, and there were still cups/plates unremoved (as there were on other tables) when we left. With only a few tables, and at least 3 unsmiling staff members, there was no reason not to keep the tables clean and tidy. And to add insult to injury, when we approached a staff member at 2.50pm to place our order, we were told that they were closing at 3pm (despite the website advertising 5pm). Avoid this unfriendly place - especially as there are so many others to choose from.Happily the Rutland Arms was next door, and we spent a lovely few hours in their dog-friendly coffee area.

I really don't understand all the low star reviews. The cafe was super busy and the coffee machine was broken but the staff were still very lovely and apologetic. The food was delicious, and the cafe was warm, comfortable, and clean. Dogs welcome as well. I think the 1 stars are just from grumpy and entitled people ? if you have an ounce of understanding, this cafe is great.

We called into the teashop side of this business for lunch. The staff do not acknowledge customers coming into the shop. There is nothing that informs you that you are required to order at the counter. A girl came to the counter right next to where we sat down, she didn't speak to us but got out a notebook and pen and started jotting some notes. We asked how we order and were told to come to the counter. After ordering, while waiting for our drinks, the two staff members whinged incessantly about everything from not wanting to work with a particular person to their pay. They were behind the counter but very close to our table. Shockingly unprofessional!. When my red pepper and tomato soup arrived, it was so salty, it was inedible. I tried a couple of spoonfuls then just left it and ate the two slices of bread. When I went to pay, I mentioned that I had been unable to eat the soup because it was so salty. The staff member said she would mention it to Chef. I asked whether there would be a reduction on the price of our snacks as it was the not possible to eat the soup and I was told she couldn't do that because I had eaten the bread and had actually tried the soup. I told her that, at over £6, those were the two most expensive slices of bread I have ever eaten and we promptly left. This business needs to buck its ideas up or they won't last long. The staff attitude is a disgrace and staff need to be properly trained to deal with customer complaints in a more professional manner in order to avoid even more reviews of this nature. Judging from the reviews already listed this is not an exceptional occurrence. AVOID THIS TEA ROOM AT ALL COST.

We had met friends in Bakewell and decided to go for a cuppa of coffee, but we had our 2 dogs with us. We popped into one cafe and was not made to feel welcome so we left. We happened to call in into 'The Derbyshire Emporium' Bakewell, and we received a very warm welcome from Kayleigh and Leah who served us. It was lovely, bright and clean and we would come again. Thank you.

We called in this cafe on Monday 11th September. As we walked in there wasn?t a hello or even a smile. We decided to order something as we?d been walking for a while. We ordered a coffee and tea, sausage sandwich and two slices of toast. When one of the women brought over our drinks, she plonked them down next to my partner, she didn?t ask who was having what, just left the teapot, coffee etc all crammed together. We then waited 20 mins for two slices of toast. The sausage sandwich arrived 15 minutes after the toast, that was delivered with the same enthusiasm as the tea and coffee. We couldn?t believe how rude this woman was. When we finished and went to pay, the card machine wasn?t working. After waiting for about 10 minutes, the woman serving then asked if we could pay with cash.Just when we thought this experience couldn?t get any worse, they charged nearly £18 for two drinks, one sandwich and two slices of toast?Nothing we had just had was with worth anything even close to that figure. It was just ok.That wouldn?t have mattered if the service had been so diabolical. Please avoid? you?ll wish you had if you don?t!!

I am writing this review on behalf of my Aunt and uncle......" we visited this cafe on 25 09 2023 and we were greated by a very pleasant and chirpy youg lady called Kayleigh which made our visit even more memorable. A lovely quaint cafe in the heart of Derbyshire. Well worth a visit. We will definitely be calling again next week. OMG what a memory Kayleigh has. 10/10
