Completely rubbish. I wanted to open a joint account because the online method kept rejecting my application because I hold an Irish passport. I was reassured over the phone that a face to face customer representative in branch would be able to help me open a joint account. I attended in branch at Bakewell yesterday only to be told they would not open a joint account for me (no reason given, and no opportunity given for me to explain myself further) and promptly sent me on my way whilst fobbing me off with a business card number I should ring for further 'help'. I would advise if you are needing anything more complex than simple banking, don't bother attending the Bakewell Nat West branch as they are extremely unhelpful. Worst customer service I've experienced in a long time.

Staff always polite and friendly although there is undoubtedly an effort to get you to bank entirely online.

Just want to fob you off to the machine! 3 people swanning around and only 1 cashier open! Awkward and unhelpful processes and staff.

Always pleasant staff and very helpful. Sometimes queuing is a bit of a hassle but otherwise it's a friendly branch

This branch is inefficient and unable to cope with the increased number of customers following the closure of RBS Bakewell earlier in the year. Too often frustration is caused by having to queue for service when there is only one teller operating. There can be a number of other staff about but they are not engaged in reducing the queue. The branch desperately needs more tellers operating at the same time. Why this isn?t obvious to the management is quite beyond my comprehension.

I withdrew cash from the machine in the wall but wanted some tens rather than the 20s that it gave me. I went into the bank to change them but was told to my surprise and disappointment that "unless you have a account here we will not change them !" What ever happened to doing something for your fellow man without wanting something in return ? Very poor advertisement for a bank !!!!

Cheques take ages to clear; bank charges high; saving rates pathetically low. Natwest keep shareholders happy and customers poor.
