Great value. Beds comfortable, room clean and recently refurbished. Food in restaurant great. Shame the road is nearby, could hear the rumbles of trucks passing over the rail crossing but it didn't really affect me.

Spent 4 nights at this delightful hotel with several others. Service was excellent - we must recommend the young lady who was on breakfast duty - she is delightful, and has a lovely smile! We were also very impressed on the evening when 8 of us turned up for an evening meal without booking and had our food delivered without any lengthy delay! On one occasion, when "they were doing the drains" some of the water from the toilet in our bathroom ended up sprayed over the bathroom floor. Fortunately the toilet was not being used at the time! Advance warning would be useful next time!
Hotel is in a good location for exploring places nearby.

Popped in on the of chance of getting a table for 2 plus our dog,a very busy Saturday night, but they did manage to find us a table.The roast we had was me turkey and beef my wife a nut roast ? it was very plentiful & tasty, so much so,hadn't got room for a sweet. We were on a visit to the area, from Suffolk but if local would go there again.

Stayed here for one night in September 2024. Rooms are good size and bed very comfy, not slept this week in a good while. Staff are friendly and helpful. Great location for dining at the Lighthouse restaurant which is fine dining and only 10 minutes away. Also only half hour to Alton towers. Would definitely stay again as the hotel offers great value and free onsite parking.
Rooms: Good size, clean and quiet (room 1 was anyway)
Nearby activities: 10 minute drive to the Lighthouse restauy
Safety: Old fashioned key locks, not cards
Food and drinks: Bar was well stocked and great value
Noteworthy details: Very good shower

Used as a base for an Alton towers trip, hotel was very nice, rooms could do with abit of a glow up but they were big, comfy and had everything we needed, restaurant and bar were very nice good options all round all the staff we encountered were lovely, would recommend and stay again

We have just had Sunday lunch at the Boars Head, a party of 9 for my dad's 85th birthday celebration. The food is outstanding - top quality products cooked and presented in an interesting manner - there's some flair in this kitchen, without it being "Gastro" or over-muddled. The service is excellent - friendly and efficient and able to cope with various different requests without any fuss.
I would come here every week if I was local, thank you Boars Head, we will be back!!

We are regulars in the restaurant. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, especially Kat and Taylor. They have a dog friendly area as well which is fantastic. Great food. Highly recommended,

Great food, lovely staff and good service at a reasonable price. Highlight is a Sunday roast with great choices for meats, sides, and desserts! They're also happy to adjust and swap for kids!

We had a meal for a family birthday for 14 people (11/08/24). The whole experience was astonishing. The service, the food and the price. I would highly recommend this pub/restaurant.
