We (myself, my daughter and her partner) tried to buy HG drain cleaner (a chemical), but because my daughter scanned it at the self scan checkout as I was getting purse out, and couldn?t prove her age I wasn?t allowed to buy it, but was told to come back tomorrow and I could buy it (!!??). There was no way I could buy it, even if we cancelled the sale and I scanned it. The most ridiculous part is they wouldn?t accept her driving licence or International passport as both are issued abroad. According to B&Q regulations on internet the passport was valid but the staff at Workington were adamant. So if my daughter lived in the UK then shed never be allowed to buy drain cleaner at B&Q?.. Oh by the way, shes 27 and a GP.

Not all that impressed really .....staff at blackpool are super compared to here ! Asked for help finding wallpaper and he just pointed up there.....asked same chappy about sunflower wallpaper he hadn't a clue!

Customer service lacking .
Some unpleasant staff.
Needs staff only signs in areas Customers cannot enter .
Was 'shood' away from self service till while staff member rectified an issue with till .
No Thank you .

The shop itself is good, usually fairly well stocked although the online in store stock availability is usually somewhat incorrect. The customer service however is a little less to be desired. Mostly moping faces and lack of care from most that I have been served by or asked questions too.

I visited the Workington store yesterday.
I asked a young lad for help. Everything I asked was not one bit of bother to him. He guided,explained and advised fully. We even had a lovely crack.
I have bad anxiety when going into a shop.
He turned my anxiety right round.
There should be more store assistants like him. He surely needs promotion.
So I would like to say to Peter,thankyou for your amazing service. ?

I went to get sand and cement. Geoff was really helpful - he fetched a trolley for me and loaded it up with the bags of cement and sand. Then after the checkout Ryan steered the trolley out for me and loaded it into the car - most helpful and service with a smile. Thank you

Not the biggest B&Q, but well stocked with most items that you'll need for diy.Time for another quick update, I'm pleased to say things have improved here. Most items back in stock and available.Staff seem to be less stressed, and the customer service has improved to the point where it was actually a reasonably pleasant visit.The last few visits, I've been served on the checkouts by very friendly and helpful staff.Parking: Can be a little tight to get around the car park if it's busy. Bays are of a reasonable size.Shared with Halfords, B&M, and Morrisons.

Expensive, but good! Couldn't find felt. I'm sure it's there, but meh ?Update: 16/07/2023 - a roof leak meant a LOT of the aisles were part shut. You could always ask a member of staff to escort you into a shut aisle, but it seemed painful. Also the guy at the checkout also accidentally logged the machine out while I was using it and quickly wandered off so I just joined a queue... Not ideal, but not awful. Hence reduction to 3 stars.
