I had a fantastic stay at The Queens! Friendly staff, great locally sourced food, peaceful location and comfy beds, the team also let me store my bike inside the building (I'm cycling Hadrian's Wall back to Newcastle) thanks team!!

Stayed here from a BritStop recommendation and it was excellent. Plenty of parking for a motorhome in the car park, we were one of 3 that stayed the night. The food was DEVINE, a pure Scottish sausage and mash, just what we were looking for, and boy, it was impressive and DELICIOUS. Highly recommend this place, plenty of outdoor seating, and indoors, also doggo friendly!

Yesterday I had what is the worst veggie dish I have ever been offered in the area! Only one main dish on the menu - falafel burger - on a Sunday lunch menu! Arrived, roll, with 'cremated' (originally frozen?) burger, french fries, small container of coleslaw and a smearing of Romesco sauce. I should have sent it back but it is always a difficult situation when you are with family/friends. We veggies don't ask for much but burgers! Really! Service ok, rooms don't know, location great.

Had dinner last night...absolutely superb. More like 'restaurant' dining than pub grub....good portions, not the usual 'fill the plate with all your can'...which is far more appealing. Scallops were to die for! very friendly staff.nice ambiance. highly recommend.

Went for Monday lunch with friends and found the restaurant busy with a lovely relaxed and friendly vibe, fire burning and simple but effective Christmas decoration. The best was yet to come - the menu was inviting for vegetarian and meat eaters alike and we couldn?t resist the full three course experience. Service was friendly and prompt. The food was simply delicious and beautifully presented. I love mussels and these were just divine! ?? Every menu choice proved just as perfect as the company of friends.
I could not recommend this place highly enough and well worth a detour off anyone?s route. We will certainly be back!

Needed somewhere special at the end of s ten day cycling holiday and this was everything I hoped for: cosy rooms, well- kept good beer and top quality food stylishly served in good portions. There was a welcoming fire lit in the bar which was a plus on what felt like the start of autumn.
Rooms: Can't fault anything, but one very minor issue was that the WiFi was fiddly to log on to. Good strength once on it though.
Food and drinks: Thwaites beers- in good condition. Had the Golden and a Belgian Kwak style.

Amazing! Booked this little gem only a week ago for our overnight stay back home from the Highlands. What an amazing place! We booked 2 rooms for our family of 4 + dog and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming or accommodating. Rooms very clean and modern, couldn't fault anything. Genuinely, a lovely place to stay. Food at the restaurant isn't cheap, but it's delicious and we also had a tasty breakfast included in the overnight cost. Definitely would stay again.

I had the single room for 4 nts which was above the kitchen, but no noise from below, but you do get the noise from the kitchen extractor system outside the window, but only during service times, also room was so warm, I never slept with duvet on. Room space was adequate with sloping ceiling, small toilet with good shower.
Service was first class, staff were very attentive & helpful. I ate my evening meals in the bar area, and the food was really good, big plateful, steak pie was my best.
Breakfast was good too, with a good choice of cereals before ordering hot foods.
The location was good, off the main busy road, with two access points, carpark is large and surrounded by high bush & trees, I had a motorcycle and was tucked in a corner close to the building, carpark has no security, so lock up.
Great place to stay & happy stay.

We were a group of 5 with 3 dogs and were made to feel very welcome in the excellent beer garden. The food and service was brilliant, really friendly staff and good choice of food for all our dietary requirements. 100% visiting again next time we are in Cumbria.

Decent bar with outdoor seating area. Didn't eat but the restaurant space was very attractive and the food menu was impressive, would suit a special occasion.
