Loved our stay at this hotel.
Everything was perfect expect for the lack of air conditioning. So please ask prior to booking. We had to use the fan which helped.

We did the Dinner, Bed and Breakfast package as well as booking into the spa. Our room was supposed to be a Splendid Garden View room but we were given a complimentary upgrade to a Splendid Suite. The room was lovely and had a free standing bath. The food was excellent and the service was great. We really enjoyed the spa. The only thing about the spa was that the bar closed for a short while and then the cafe/bar that you were sent to outside the spa didn't have a great range of drinks. Worth going if you get the chance.

Stayed here for my partners birthday on a dinner, bed and breakfast package with spa access.
Room - we?d upgraded to a suite room as I particularly love a bath and it had a giant iron bath. The room itself we couldn?t fault, absolutely lovely, spacious, comfy and clean. The only downfall for me was the bath - no bubble bath in a 4* hotel room which is advertised/marketed for said bath
Spa - whilst it?s lovely it could be massively improved.Signs saying no smoking/vaping yet a group sat openly vaping on loungers and at one point in the pool. Lots of empty drinks everywhere attracting wasps and not a staff member in sight. We saw one member of staff clearing up drinks after about 1.45 hours into our experience.
Plus ordering drinks meant you had to be all back through out the spa, past changing rooms and into the cafe to order as the outside/spa bar was closed.
Bar areas - We went down to the bar for a drink before dinner and to be expected in August it was very busy but had a sense of chaos about it. The staff didn?t behind the bar didn?t seem very confident to deal with the amount of traffic and demand. They had also ran out of several drinks including pinot Grigio wine
Restaurant - this is the main reason for our low review. we were booked into the river restaurant at 7.30. As we sat down the table behind us started to complain that their food and drink order were taking an exceptionally long time so this t didn?t exactly set the scene. As the night progressed an additional three tables around us had to complain drinks hadn?t arrived or food was taking over an hour.
We ordered our starter Gluten free only to be told there was no gluten free bread but all the gf options had bread. Alternative started came out around 25 mins later for us then to be told the steak we had ordered was also not in stock and told it was because it was the end of a stock week. Not something I?d expect from a 4* hotel - especially at the prices charged. When my main arrived the plate was so hot to touch it had clearly been sitting there for a while.
We ordered a bottle of red wine and it was served with really small glasses so we had to Ask for them to be changed. The table next to us ordered wine and the server couldn?t use a waiters friend and had to get another server to do it. A nice touch was a birthday board they brought my partner however not so great that they presented to me and all gluten. Overall the experience was really poor - really long wait times for average food topped off with when returning to our room my partner then had an upset tummy for the majority of the evening. Whilst our main server was really nice the rest of the team all seemed very inexperienced and unable to handle the pressure of the restaurant. The restaurant just seemed to be massively overwhelmed.
Breakfast the next day was a repeat with no gluten free bread available due to stock (even tho this was requested on the booking)I would add that upon raising a complaint the hotel did offer apologies and refunded food charges.
Overall the hotel has massive potential, I get the sense it is popular due to local and past reputation. From our experience it?s currently not meeting the standards of what you would expect and needs some significant improvements.

Very disappointed in the afternoon tea which was £30 each. We received very little food for the price. My massage was one of the weakest massages I've ever received. Spa and location is beautiful but food and massage was very disappointing.

After sending a general enquiry ten days after our visit and then an email a week later I still have no response to either so here?s my first ever negative review.
I?m writing to express my disappointment following a recent visit to your spa on 10th July, which I booked as a last-minute treat for my husband?s birthday. It was a rare child-free evening for us, and we had high hopes for a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, it fell far short of expectations.
From the outset, the experience was disorganised. We waited around 45 minutes for our welcome drinks ? having to visit both bars ? simply because we requested non-alcoholic options. This set the tone for what continued to be a disappointing visit.
Some of the main concerns included:
? The women?s changing rooms were flooded.
? The robes provided were extremely small ? fine for me as I?m petite, but unsuitable for my husband and other guests.
? The indoor pool area had gritty flooring due to missing grout.
? The steam room seating was greasy, and one of the nearby showers was blocked, causing grimy water to overflow.
? The pool felt slimy, and the hot tub was in poor condition and unclean, with broken edges.
? Loud, non-relaxing music was playing, which affected the ambiance.
? Used glasses and cups were not cleared during our entire visit.
? The water dispensers were empty.
? The men?s showers had no soap in the dispensers.
To add to this, we were told our pizzas (ordered on arrival) would be ready by 7:40pm at reception. However, we had to queue with other regular food orders, adding further frustration to an already disappointing evening.
We left feeling far from relaxed or refreshed, which is such a shame given the occasion and our previous positive experiences at The Swan before the new spa was introduced. I had genuinely looked forward to this visit, especially as your facilities are new, but the overall experience didn?t meet the basic standards one would expect from a spa of your reputation.

Had lunch, food was okay, prices different on the bill than the menu. A glass of white wine was £9.10 yet on the menu £7.90 chips 50p more. Was rectified when challenged, but be aware.

The hotel itself and location beside the river is gorgeous.
The breakfast was very good - there was a very painful wait for hot food on our first morning, but the service was much faster for our second morning.
We took our dogs and the dog bowls, treats and dog towels in the room were very well received.
The spa treatment i had with Chloe was fantastic!!
The pizza hut directly outside the hotel was fab.
Drinks not too expensive we didnt think - £11.00 for 2 pints of cider.
We would definitely come back again. Thank you for having us.

me and fiancé came to stay in this hotel to celebrate our anniversary weekend and recent proposal, we chose this place out of many other options as i?ve always wanted to stay here and say it was a massive let down is an understatement! to start off it took over 10 minutes for us to find a parking spot which is ridiculous, the blind broke before we went to bed, the food service took over an hour to be served to us and it came out cold, i had to ask a member of staff three times where the food is up to and i had to send the food back, the drink service took 20 mins to even ask if we wanted a drink, there was a few rude members of staff when we went for our food, sour faces, and the food was ridiculously over priced! In our room there was smudged prosecco glasses when we got to our room and i paid extra for this bottle! the bed was ridiculously uncomfortable so both me and my fiancé slept horribly that night. to say i was considering to use this hotel as my wedding reception it?s such a shame me and my fiancé were let down. on the positive the hotel receptionist were absolutely fantastic. can?t fault them one minute. considering i paid so much to stay at this hotel the service was absolutely atrocious! i would not recommend.
