What a quaint place in ulverston reminded me if being at my grannies,s house lots of memories. Sat and had a latte to early for lunch although the menu looked fab friendly staff and reasonable prices

We looked up the Four Pence Cafe while touring the Lake District. Our late lunch of Soup (fish chowder and fresh tomato) were exceptional. Both freshly made and tasted delicious. The service was excellent as was the atmosphere. A real gem in the middle of Ulverston with parking close by.

Very reasonable and lovely home made food. Really interesting and different dishes available. Also toys, kitchen things and home made oils and vinegars available to buy. An eclectic cosy very different cafe.

Loved it here! The definition of quirky.
We had a lovely fish chowder, scone and an apple crumble which was a great surprise.
Would highly recommend this place for lunch!

I was tired and cold and had just finished the Cumbrian Way. I walked into town and came across this place. The couple who run this shop and cafe are lovely. The chef in particular is very gifted. He made me a delicious vegetable soup (honestly the best I have ever had) then a fantastic nutty bread and butter pudding with cream for dessert. Plus a piping hot high quality coffee. All for a very reasonable price. The cafe is an unusual place as there are also lots of interesting items for sale. I sat peacefully for an hour eating a delicious meal, surrounded by the restful ticking and chiming of clocks, and cared for by 2 people who are clearly very good at what they do. You could go to chain places down the road, eat the same old and be disappointed or you could come here and be looked after well, cared for and give your money to a local business, meaning it stays in the town. Please go here! Thank you Fourpence for a very memorable hour and meal; it made me happy.

They only take cash, small place smelled sweaty, but people seemed to be enjoying it, we never stayed as had card only and wife didn't like the smell.

Lovely, quirky little cafe with an added bonus of being dog friendly. Although limited, there were gluten-free options on the menu, and the food was very yummy. Their homemade limeaid was also very good.

Excellent unique cafe serving fresh and tasty food. Lunch with my family, four different meals, all great including the tastiest crumble ever. Always prefer shopping local than chains and with one this good it?s an easy decision.
