James is a true craftsman and a real professional. I commissioned him to make a rocking chair for our front room. From initially discussing the idea with him to the delivery of the chair, James was fantastic. Down to earth, straightforward and driven by a commitment to make something both functional and beautiful. The end result is a chair that is exceptionally beautiful and exceptionally comfortable. It will be treasured by our family.

We were looking for something special to mark our 40th wedding anniversary and when we discovered Hill Top Furniture and saw James's Rocking Chair, we knew what we wanted.We are now the proud owners of a beautifully crafted chair, made from sustainably sourced Cumbrian oak.James sent us photos of our chair as it was being made so we could understand just what went into every stage of its construction. James is passionate about his craft which is evident in his furniture.He comes highly recommended.Stephen and Fiona.

We asked James to make us a bespoke oak pedestal dining table. He carefully selected some local brown oak and took his time to get the design right. He consulted us regularly, sometimes daily to ensure we were happy with it. The end result is a beautiful, elegant table to compliment our new kitchen diner. It?s perfect and when we have visitors it extends to comfortably sit six people. We can highly recommend James?s work and have asked him to make us some matching dining chairs.

I'm delighted with my desk. James is easy to deal with and adapted my ideas into something unique. The design process meant that I could see the early design and progress via shared photos. All of this meant that my desk is locally produced rather than being shipped from the other end of the country, and at a similar price - I'm very happy writing this review from my new desk! We're planning a book case to follow the desk, so we are really very pleased and would have no hesitation in recommending.

So glad we chose Hill Top Furniture to make us an oak desk, it is absolutely perfect and is exactly what we wanted, simple but beautifully made. We felt confident from the beginning that he was going to do a good job. A skilled cabinet maker whose computer background is a bonus as he was able to send us an image of how the desk would look when finished. Highly recommended.

James kept us informed of progress with photos and delivered to the agreed date. The two cupboards were exactly what we wanted. A very positive experience and we "stayed local". It's great to support local craftsmanship.
