Lovely place to stay and eat, owners are friendly and the food is delicious. The accommodation was clean and tidy and perfect for what we needed. Best of all it is very dog friendly both in the pub and in the accommodation. Next time we are in the area we will definitely use again.

Out in the middle of nowhere so you need to drive and also have a recommendation - so here it is. Service great, food freshly cooked and scrumpy. Fine selection of beers and gins. We joined people also eating there as strangers and left as friends.

Beautiful peaceful accommodation. Perfect beds and lining. Warm showers and heating. Had a great night's sleep. Lovely couple running the pub and accommodation. Gorgeous breakfast included. Really interesting interior of the pub-lots of memorabilia and stories. Focus on sustainability and supporting the local community. Nice walks from the pub and lots to see nearby by car too. Can get Busy in the evenings so get booked and possibly order meals ahead.

The SA provides accommodation from the 70's whilst charging current rates. They would be wise to watch a series of 'Four in a Bed' (Ch4) for a clue as what is expected for £120ppn ... certainly more than they offer.Look elsewhere for betterment .. not difficult.

We stayed at The Strickland Arms over night in one of their cabins. The cabin was really comfortable and clean, with heating and lots of hot water. We ate our dinner and breakfast in the pub and both were really good. Lots of choice on the everning menu, pizza, pies, burgers. I had the chicken stroganoff with rice with was really tasty. Breakfast was also great, big portion and good quality. The cabin and pub were fully doggy friendly. Just be aware that you can't check in until 5pm.Rooms: Cabins were really high quality. We boom a two night cabin, but didn't realise that as two people there are two rates and that the cheaper two person rate only included a stay in one room of the cabin. The other room is locked. The owner will email you in advance to ask how you want your room or rooms (if 4 persons) set up either twin or double. Both rooms are lovely, although the main room is the one with the view.

Lovely country pub with friendly staff, local ales and absolutely fabulous food, especially the extensive menu for vegetarians. For once my Wife was spoilt for choice and really enjoyed the Chickpea & Bean Tagine. I had the Salmon which was cooked to perfection ?Food & drinks: Lots of choice from the menu and all cooked from fresh ingredients.

Lovely little pub, quite small and can get busy around teatime. You can phone in advance and book a table for food. The food was very nice.

Awful and very disappointed with how they treated us. I brought my family from Mexico to come here and they turned us away. 3 days before I emailed and also rang the Strickland Arms to prebook. Once I arrived they said they hadn?t read any emails and they ?forgot? to listen to the answering machine. Poor, very poor. I was expecting more from a well know establishment. We were staying in the close by village of Cliburn. Clearly did not contact the "wrong Strickland arms" as they have said below. Embarrasing response from the owners.

Booked this place for 2 nights as we were attending a wedding arrived at 3.30 to a place that looked like it had shut down windows were dirty and there was weeds everywhere car park was uneven and also had weeds everywhere looked at where the yurts were and everything including plant pots were full of weeds I phoned the telephone number numerous times to get no answer my sister also phoned she got to leave a voicemail and left a message we realised we could not get into rooms till 5 but with it being a pub thought we could at least get into premises we had also sent 2 emails on the Sunday before our arrival and had no answer so we thought the place had shut down going by the neglected look of the place so we decided we would need to look for alternative accommodation as we had wedding to get ready for the next day sister got phone call at 10pm from them that night but as she was already in bed did not hear it when we got back from wedding that night she had received 2 emails from Strickland second one stating that if we had not paid the balance of £200 within 3 days they were taking it to the court my sister was very upset so we have paid it so in total we have paid them £400 for nothing think they need to look at there customer service as it is appalling the same as the outside of there pub WOULD AVOIDE THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAQUE
