Stayed overnight to help break up a journey from Glasgow to Leeds so found this by chance. Really glad we did. Food and rooms were superb. Staff couldn?t be more welcoming and friendly. Fantastic location for sumptuous local walks away from some of the more obvious Lakes hotspots. Weather was glorious and Bampton also home to the iconic Withnail and I phonebox!

Really fantastic community-run pub in a beautiful setting. Excellent food, outstanding service and very allergy-aware. We visit fairly frequently and it's always a great experience.

A fabulous community owned pub, with good beer and food, and warm and friendly service. It is in an exquisite village at the entrance to Mardale. There is good parking nearby

Just a delivery driver needing wi-fi....what a warm welcome,and got offered a glass of iced water,very refreshing,lovely helpful staff thank you for the drink and wi-fi.

Really lovely little pub in a beautiful village.
Good selection of ales, lagers and Guinness on draught.
We had a Saturday lunchtime snack which was delicious.
Very clean throughout, well decorated and nice furnishings.
Would highly recommend a visit.

Had Sunday Lunch here - just amazing! £10 for small (but still quite big!) roast beef. £18 for a large (huge) portion. Other options include vegan options and battered cod. Lovely environment, great staff. Real ale from local breweries (3 varieties). Check website for parking options, quite a few nearby, but not many at the pub itself. Highly recommended.

We didn't stay here but we ate here one night for dinner. We were staying just down the road at a rental property. We both got the steak and ale pie and were a bit disappointed. The sauce was a bit strange and it was extremely salty. The chips were extremely sad and I only had like two. How do you mess up chips? They were kind of hard and stale with no real flavor. The carrots were good but thats about it. Also came with broccoli, peas, and maybe turnips? The steak was good but like I said, salty sauce.
Service was great and it had great atmosphere.
Definitely wasn't worth 18 pounds, we should've just had protein bars for dinner.
