Stopped for a breakfast and was very disappointed. I wanted to choose some vegetarian options and there is no clear price list. The young staff don't make you aware either. The food was very limited and cooked badly. The eggs looked awful and the toast was chewy. One tomatoe, one egg, one toast and some beans with a cup of tea for £14.40 is a total rip off. I realise the services are expensive but the food portions and quality was awful too.The views are nice. That's about all. Will never stop here again for food. You should avoid too.

Terrible frozen food from the farm shop. Bought two Thai red curries yesterday and they are possibly the worst I?ve ever eaten. It was hard to tell what they actually were. Spicy, yes, but the sauce and chicken were very strange, almost like a casserole. Cheap cuts of chicken and the strangest of flavours. Certainly nothing like any Thai dish you?ve ever had. Won?t be buying from the shop again. Very disappointed.

Visited the southbound Tebay services on 27th December. The dining areas were covered in detritus and no staff to help clear. Toilets dirty. I use these services regularly and have noted that their standards are gradually deteriorating with lack of customer service. Wrote to the services to complain when I returned home but have received no communication from them.

I have been a loyal customer of Tebay Service Station for years, and I always enjoyed their food and coffee. However, I had a very disappointing experience on January 4th. I was shocked by how expensive the food was, so I decided to just order a large latte at the food counter. As I was walking back to my car, I took a sip and realized that the latte tasted awful. It had a sour milk flavor that made me gag. I returned to the express counter and complained to the lady there. She apologized and said that they had some problems with their milk supplier. She offered to replace my coffee with another one. I accepted the offer and hoped that the new coffee would be better. I resumed my journey, but after a few miles, I noticed that the coffee still had a hint of sourness. I couldn?t stand it anymore and threw it away. I stopped at a McDonald?s and got a much better and cheaper coffee. I was very unhappy with Tebay Service Station. Their quality and value have gone downhill. I will not stop there again. Avoid this place if you don?t want to waste your money and ruin your taste buds.

Arrived this morning and ordered the £12 breakfast (yes twelve pound!!!) which wasn't the most expensive one. The disinterested server produced one small curled up piece of bacon, one dry sausage and a flaccid fried egg, beans and mushrooms.I was about to refuse but was starving after a 4 hour drive. The coup de grace was that it was cold!!!! The produce is a million miles away from the glossy TV programme. Everything is extortionately priced and very poor value. Give it a big swerve and go anywhere else which is bound to be better value.

Unusually poor service from staff serving breakfast. Not a clue how to put food into a plate. Foid items just dumped on plate. Coffee took ages to be made. Barista not quick at all.

We have always stopped at Tebay on our way south and again on our homeward leg and feel like it?s lost its way a bit. Shop is completely overpriced now with little appealing as an impulse purchase and the food is completely overrated for what it costs. We stopped on 23 Dec at 10am on our way south to find it totally rammed. Asked for two bacon rolls at the takeaway part to be told they were sold out after waiting in a big queue and then had to wait again in a bigger queue at the cafe. Toilets were tired with dirty walls in the cubicles. The last time we stopped in October for an evening meal the choices were limited, no salads, baked potatoes or healthier options. I chose fish and chips and the fish was more batter than fish and v greasy and overcooked. Hopefully someone is reading the comments and working out how to turn things around. It will be a long time before we stop at Tebay again.

Had to ask staff for cleaning equipment to clear and sanitise a table to sit at. No tables were cleared away and it wasn't busy. First time ever I have seen tebay this way. Is this the result of success, that you drop your standards?

We visited tebay last night our way to meet the family and were amazed at the services facilities . Made even more fabulous by the wonderful staff especially Alisha who was helpful and so cheerful . We will return on our southbound journey to visit the other side .

Disappointed food was cold, as slow service not enough staff had to wait to pay even if didn?t want hit drinks. Chairs were dirty, no cutlery.

We had watched the tv programmes so expectations were high. Unlike other reviews we were happy with the range of grocery / food provisions etc. especially the vast range of cheeses. However, our problems were more basic - the organisation / signage / parking etc. Both sites would be nightmares to use if they were located anywhere really busy like the M25, M1, M4 etc. To start there is much confusion about the north south locations of the two sites - is the superior site (butchery/cheeses/ duck pond) on the north or south carriageway or is it the much poorer 'truck stop'. The car parking on both sites is confusing with trucks and cars mixing and signage to access the north and south carriageways unclear. Inside the 'flagship' site it says on the site that dogs are only welcome in the foyer where you can sit. In fact signage on site allows you to sit in a nice dining area facing the duck pond, but there are not any seats in the foyer - however, there is a bench in the draft lobby. The signage for dog facilities / areas exists but is too subtle (similar to heritage signs) - the signs need to be tastefully designed but more prominent. The services are in the top 10 motorway provisions but need clearer organisational thinking to improve the overall experience.

I read the reviews about Tebay and they weren?t very good but as always I will try somewhere and make my own mind up . Sadly all the bad reviews I read were correct . We had the breakfast and it was terrible . I don?t know when the bacon was cooked but it was well past it best . It was grossly overpriced for what you receive on your plate . The coffee just tasted like milk and was lukewarm. Obviously won?t be going there again .
