Atmospherically empty. I'd be intrigued to see it's clientele when full.

Neglected, deserted, dire.

I know it's January, traditionally quiet for pubs but when the landlord can barely get up from watching the TV to serve behind the bar, it doesn't create a nice atmosphere, especially when he's coughing badly and doesn't put his hand in front of his mouth.Food mediocre, would not recommend, there are 2 other pubs in the village, I can't see this one lasting much longer.

Great friendly pub, we will be back.Parking: We stayed overnight in our Motorhome, this is free as long as money is spent in the pub.

Great spot to camp along the Coast to Coast. The camping pods are a lovely break from having to pitch a tent. Ask about laundry services, as it's also the perfect time to get clothes laundered and dried.

A perfect local pub. Good selection of drinks and pub food, very friendly and helpful owners. A place that's not pretending to be anything else! Thanks for letting me park up for the night too ??

We just had the most delicious and wonderful lunch at The Crown Inn at Shap! They opened at noon and because we took a day away from walking the Coast to Coast (lots of rain!) we had time to relax over lunch. We visited with the proprietors while the coal fire was built in the fireplace and ordered homemade tomato soup (for me) and a ham and cheese omelette for my husband, and coffee for us both. Two hours passed (a total surprise!). It was about to storm again, so we closed our bill and walked to our B&B. What a great afternoon. Wonderful people, great homemade food (all of it!! Even the sausage!). They told us about how they invite campers walking the C2C to camp on their property, also. So nice!! Great wholesome, fresh food. Very friendly and full of authentic hospitality!

Camped here overnight on the Coast to Coast. Good little, flat camping area with dedicated shower and loo (could do with a lick of paint, but did the job). The pub itself is very old - in a good way. I found the landlord and landlady very welcoming and helpful, and there was a nice crowd at the bar. Excellent cooked breakfast, too. Thank you.
