A superb venue for a birthday meal. We even got to meet the chef, who produced such wonderful taster dishes for us.

Great place with excellent staff and quite possibly the best sandwich I have ever had. The building is historic and superbly decorated inside - outside could do with a spruce up.

A very well decorated and quirky bar/hotel. Good table service for drinks. However, £16.50 for 2 pints and a half of 3.4% ale left us

Popped into the Black Bull for lunch. It wasn't the best, 2 burgers and two drinks. Just shy of £50 Inc service charge. The meal was OK, the food was hot, the sides lovely but the cheese and sauce overpowered the burger and just tasted out of place. Asian/oriental inspired influence on Bristish Beefburger just doesn't go, well not on my tastebuds, or a couple near us who ordered the same and could see a look of puzzlement/distaste with every bite. A shame, because the service was fine, the pub itself is characterful, with log fire burning and plenty of customers but the food fell short this time. I'm sure the a la carte menu offered in the evening would deliver a different meal experience, so for this reason I score a mid range 3 stars as we only sampled the one dish.

A lovely place to stay and relax. The food is exceptional and the atmosphere is everything you want for a break away.Nearby activities: Dale's way, killington lake, cycle route to HawesWalkability: Easy to walk to from any number of local hikes.

Lovely friendly staff, nice selection of drinks, had a local (I think) cider and an amazing meal. We hadn't booked but the kindly squeezed us in and the Food was out of this world. Absolutely perfect ??

Went in for a pint with the family. Not really a proper pub any more. Drinks by table service only is a bit non-traditional, and made for a less sociable and convivial atmosphere. Beer and wine was good, but priced over the average - even with inflation.

Highly recommended as a characterful and comfortable stopover treat in Sedbergh. The Asian fusion dinner was an absolutely delicious surprise, beautifully presented. All staff encountered were lovely and welcoming. Soothed by the Japanese aesthetics of my comfortable room and its high-end bed linens: slept like a Yuletide log.

It is such a lovely place to relax and eat. Let me just say that their fresh oysters are fantastic and delicious.Crispy Korean Beef, Shiso & Sesame are a must! It is so succulent and beautiful with perfect seasoning. Staff are well knowledgeable and friendly. It's becoming my favourite local.Food & drinks: Roast beef sandwich is a gem, especially the sourdough bread

A new favorite!Picked the Black Bull (restaurant) up on The Waitrose magazine radar. Booked for lunch as stop on route, very worthwhile! Really good pub food with some great twists from the Chef. Best meat pie ever I think!! We will be making this a regular stop when we are travelling north.

We visited here for two nights and we very much enjoyed our stay. Our room was lovely. Stylish wooden floor, very comfortable bed, excellent bathroom products, quality linens and tea and coffee products. The homemade biscuits were yummy. We had dinner in the restaurant both nights. The food was sublime. There is a Japanese influence evident throughout the menu but this is applied thoughtfully and creatively while still having local produce at the centre. I fully recommend the Black Bull. We will be back for sure.

We stayed here for two nights and ate dinner here on our second night. It was the second time we had stayed and as last time, was absolutely delightful. The room was modern in styling, warm and with a very comfortable bed. The food is divine: dinner has fabulous Japanese elements; breakfast is nourishing and filling with gorgeous local bread. The wood burner in the front bar is something to behold. Sedbergh itself is a wonderful small town with several beautiful walks from the Black Bull. We are looking forward to our next visit.
