Midway between home and Somerset but so much more: comfortable rooms, plenty of parking, quiet, attentive staff and even a restaurant with a thoughtful if limited choice (how much choice needed if many stay one night!?) all at a fair price and with some "dog" rooms. Our favourite eat out ice cream, too!Don't expect to walk up without booking - others have noticed

My wife and I have stayed here several times, either individually or together. We travel between Orkney and Hampshire, usually with 1, 2, or all three of our dogs. Westmorland is near enough the half-way mark, so it is the ideal place for us to stay, in one of their pet friendly rooms.
I have no hesitation recommending this hotel. The accommodation is of a very high standard, as is the food, (don?t miss breakfast!) and I can?t fault the staff.
The only thing negative to be aware of is; if you arrive later in the evening, you may struggle to get parked. But that?s the same in a lot of places. I got lucky, the last time I was there.
Nearby activities: The Lake District National Park: Walker's Heaven, Photographer's Heaven and a whole load of other outdoor activities' heaven.

We stayed here as a stopover on our way up to Scotland; pleasantly surprised by the beautiful hotel. Lovely rooms with a huge comfy bed, quiet despite being so close to the main road and really excellent staff who couldn't have been more helpful. We popped to the farm shop next door for dinner/breakfast and it was an excellent stopover - would recommend!

The hotel is comfortable both in the rooms and communal areas. The restaurant is high quality. The hotel has some dog friendly rooms. The service is friendly and efficient. It is a real surprise for a hotel at a motorway services. It is slightly more expensive than a standard hotel but worth it.
Rooms: Really comfortable and nicely decorated. Sure lovely touches with water in the rooms and shortbread biscuits and high quality toiletries.
Food and drinks: Really good quality food and a well stocked bar.
Noteworthy details: Sure dog friendly rooms

I've always wanted to stay here after hundreds of trips to the Lakes passing Tebay services, however I was slightly disappointed. As usual with hotels if you have a dog, you get the room at the back overlooking the bins or car park, this time it was the car park, also a cold cork floor too, no carpet. Bed was comfortable and bathroom clean. On entering the room the lights didn't work, I had no idea you had to put a card into a special slot, why did reception not tell me this. All this for £124, next time I'll revert to a Travelodge, a third of the price and better rooms. I understand it's very popular but it's not for me.

Beautiful and comfortable hotel, very country like with views of small waterfalls out the windows.
Room was very spacious, immaculately clean and the staff were beyond helpful.
They really helped me out as my car stopped working and I could not continue my journey so late at night they took me in and found me a room. They were extra helpful due to the fact I had nothing to prepare for an overnight stay.
Breakfast was served at a good pace, was delicious and had enough choice to cater for anyone's food preferences.

Better than expected for a 3* hotel. Simply furnished rooms but spacious, clean, modern, well designed. Beds seem comfortable. Light & airy feel throughout, and pleasant water and countryside views. Friendly staff. Good meal in restaurant.
Beware current glitches with booking/reservation systems (second party name overwriting first, and meal time changes) and suggest double-check any reservations.

Overall this is a very comfortable hotel, and the rooms are excellent - clean, large, and our child loved the bunk bed in our family room.
The only times we felt disappointment were in the restaurant. The vegetarian option for dinner was a single dish - pea risotto. Not very inspired, and also vegan so for this vegetarian it lacked flavour, and it was also v expensive (cost more than the fish pie!). It would be great if the menu could include another veggie option please!
Breakfast service was also a bit chaotic. The servers were lovely but our tea and toast were completely forgotten about, and it was hard to catch anyone to order.
Otherwise though, this is somewhere we?d return in future (hoping for a more adventurous menu on the veggie side!).
