Amazing hotel with first class service by lovely happy staff. Our room had wonderful views of the lake and was furnished appropriately for the era of the hotel. The bed was very comfortable, we slept well and weren?t disturbed at all by the storm outside. The vegetarian/vegan breakfast was delicious served in the lovely dining room. Thoroughly enjoyed our peaceful and restful stay and hope to return soon. Thanks to everyone who made it so great.

This was our 2nd stay at the Haweswater and sadly it didn't live up to our 1st experience.
The staff were lovely I have no complaints about them. Our complaint is about our room. We stayed in the garden suite, all other rooms were booked. On first glance the room looked lovely until you got to the bathroom where the shower cubicle and shower head were covered in mould! When you ran the shower bits of black mould were coming off the shower head.
and dropping onto you! Mould is dangerous to be breathing in, I don't expect to pay the prices Haweswater charge to be showering in a mouldy shower!
Stains over the lounge area carpet, light switches falling off.
The bed was as hard a rock!! We barely slept the first night and asked the staff If they had a mattress topper, they gave us two separate ones, they weren't mattress toppers as we know them they were more like sun lounger mattresses with a gap in the middle where you fold them over. Anyway we made do and they did help slightly. I have read through the reviews and I can see many people have commented on the uncomfortable beds and also the garden suite.
On leaving I told the gentleman on reception about the mold, he said he would speak to housekeeping. There was no point in us asking to change rooms as all rooms were booked. I hope the next person who stays in this room find it mould free and a comfier bed

The decor is absolutely period perfect and I presume authentic to the time, the bed was large and comfortable and the food was spot on. There were a few niggles with the room, from a maintenance standpoint. The bed requires the slats and supports securing, there were a couple of the wall lights not working and the shower, although hot and powerful, needs a shower curtain, as it soaks the floor when in use.
But still 5 stars and my wife thoroughly enjoyed her birthday treat, the bar is now too high for next year.

What an amazing find! I?ve been living in the Lakes for over 10 years and never been to this amazing restaurant before it?s like it?s a secret. A stunning setting with a romantic view over the lake and fine dining to go with it. The dishes were exciting and interesting - my favourite being the beef fillet with the scallops a close second ? one of which we cooked at the table! The strawberry dessert was incredible but even better than the location and food was the very impressive table service - thank you to the whole team for making our dinner so special.

Charming, modest size hotel in a quiet location with stunning views over the reservoir.
Quirky art deco feel gives the Haweswater a unique atmosphere.
Friendly staff. Good food.
Thoroughly recomended.

One of the most breathtaking views from any hotel I?ve stayed in but sadly there were a couple of staff that were rude and unwelcoming - the manager being one of them and when there?s a bad apple it affects the whole atmosphere. The rest of the staff were wonderful ?. The food was amazing, particularly the Greenway menu, so delicious ?
Rooms: Beautiful
Food and drinks: Delicious

Lovely slightly quirky hotel in a beautiful location. We ate in the dining room on Sunday evening and had breakfast the following morning and the food was very good. The room we had was clean and comfortable albeit abit small.

The location was stunning, we had a fantastic hike nearby, and our stay was perfect. Highly recommend if you?re looking for something different and a bit more remote in the lakes. Can?t beat the view from the room - we got a lovely bottle of wine and sat for the sunset before dinner.

Because I had made a mistake with booking !we had to pay extra for the only available room ,on second floor ,with double bed and single bedroom plus extra bed in sitting room area.£373 .( or close to this ) for one night .Wed driven down from Scotland and it was late 7:30 ish so were gratefulr the last room .
Wed e xpected it to be splendidly wonderful but were dissapointed .
We had to carry our cases to our room for that amount youd expect a little help .
The lady who showed us the room said it was ready ?.
There was no phone to contact reception .We had to fix the loo seat as it was too loose to sit on !
£373 .The room was ok it had veiws of a dark lake and ( for me ) oppressive mountains leaving only a few in hes of sky above .
The tea tray had 6 longlife milks only ?..
We went down to eat ?only the £60 + tasting menu available .I have special diet and eventually was able to have a dairy free sandwich made ,that was all as the bar menu had also finished .The young girl who served us couldnt have been more helpful .
And so to bed .The shower driped rather than showered and the temperature was intermittent .Plenty
Of towels which were clean .Coming up from behind the loo was a draft od cool air ,underneath the sink the pipe cover was hanging off ! The wooden floor needed attention .TV had few channels but did have Net Flix bearing in mind we had paid £373 ,we were told to pay extra for Net Flix .
Furniture might have been period but was scruffy and needed some tlc .Very dissapointing .
However the bed was comfortable but rooms so hot as central heating on full blast and not able to turn off as valve fixed open .Slept with all windows open .
PILLOWS WERE DISGUSTING ! This stained fibre filled old scruffy pillows not a feather in sight .I ended up having to use a cushion ..
Bed was comfortable .
The other two beds in suite were not made up ,one was just a mattress .£373 !
Door at top of stairs wasnt a fire door ( but Im no expert pert )
Down for breakfast ,just stood at entrance to dining room waiting ,finally someone turned up and told us to sit anywhere ,no explanation of breakfast but I assumed we just helped ourselfs ???
Menu for breakfast was good .Food was good but no one asked if we wanted toast !or more tea or coffee or anything elce ?.no hospitality
Doors at top of stairs were not fire doors !!( but I might be wrong )
We then came to check out and had to wait for someone to come and off we went .
Poor sevice .
It isnt what its pretending to be ,is highly overpriced and I wouldnt recommend anyone to stay there .
No value for money .
But the bed was comfortable !so was the bed in a quirky friendly hotel in Scotland for £81 !!!

Lovely location but unfortunately the hotel is a bit run down, the room we had booked had a dripping shower which can be very frustrating when trying to sleep, I asked one of the staff and was basically told to deal with it myself, the toilet brush was disgusting. Unfortunately the dinner we had was not very good but the breakfast was fine, most of the staff were great but unfortunately there was the one who is just rude.
