I really enjoy centre parcs but a few things really let it down. It is cashless which is irritating. Some serious issues with the cleanliness of our lodge, bathroom smelled of urine, which was resolved quickly but just shouldn't have been a problem in the first place. Pancake house prices now extortionate and not worth what they're charging, also they have got rid of the Dutch pancake option and ice cream is extra. Activities choices still great. Pool tired but fun all the same. Overall enjoyable holiday and happy we paid off-peak prices. I don't think this is worth the peak prices being charged anymore as the pool needs a huge upgrade and the accommodation was not up to standard

Great place for a young family, everything conveniently located (sometimes a bit of a long walk from the outer most cabins) loads of stuff for the kids to do and nice clean facilities. My only dislike was the beds, if you like a firm mattress then your in luck because I have slept on softer floors, nothing like waking up feeling like you have gone 10 rounds in the ring.

Fantastic place for the family. Have been going for several years. Unfortunately this year sections of the pool were closed for refurbishment but still had a great time.

Beautiful location. Our lodge is near the outer edge and is set in woodland. It's lovely and quiet here. Still think it very expensive for a short break, but coming with others does reduce the cost a little. Our lodge is looking a little tired, with a large crack in the front bedroom wall. Haven't been here for years and glad to find they provide towels in the accommodation now.Rooms: We are in a three bed bungalow. Good sized bedrooms, two twins & a double. Full bathroom with a shower room & sink next to it. Toilet in the hallway. Open plan kitchen, dining, lounge means you can chat to each other no matter what you are doingNearby activities: Tropical swimming is still as good as I remember. Lots of different areas for all ages to enjoy, including water slides and rapids. Large play area on the way to the village centre, bikes for hire & trails to follow on foot or bike.Walkability: We are quite a way out, but the paths are excellent. Walking along the roadway during check-in time can be a little dangerous as there are no pavements on the roads where lodges are situated. The roads are narrow, so take care.

We've just returned from a large family holiday at Whinfell forest, it is the First time I've visited Whinfell forest and not been excited to return. The site itself is great, lots to do especially for kids, plenty of choice in activities and restaurants and just generally a nice place to walk around with a warm atmosphere. Where it is now lacking is the lodges, we stayed in the seven pines area. The lodges are in desperate need of an upgrade, the furniture is so worn and outdated. The standard of cleaning was truly poor, the levels of dust in some parts showed clearly that they aren't getting fully cleaned at all, must only be a whizz round each week between visitors. We had a note left by the cleaners when we got there to say there's no microwave plate or grill pan and to call guest services to fix, surely they could have done this ahead of us arriving. It really did let the whole holiday down as it wasn't pleasant staying there when it felt so dated and unclean. Overall we enjoyed the holiday but wouldn't be interested in returning unless this is improved.

First time at Center Parcs. The chalet was first class, well thought out, clean and set in woodland. Both the village centre, and sports complex were great. As trapped clientelle everything is a bit more expensive, but that's to be expected, and if people bring their own food etc, money can be saved.Bikes are heavily pushed, but in fact they're not needed as long as you're happy to walk. 40 minutes is enough to walk the length of the place.Overall, a peaceful place to relax with family and enjoy.

Tried different venues to eat but always booked, an early warning to pre-booking before you arrived would be welcomed, ordered food to lodge and was missing items and had to claim it back next day as they didn't deliver till 9:30 - 10:00pm and restaurant was closed by then, activities were great and pre-booking was noted then, environment was relaxing within the forest this time of yearNearby activities: Swimming is the main attraction, but definitely try zip line and wall climb too if you can.

The accommodation is lovely very clean and spacious lovely big en suites in all the rooms and the private sauna was a brilliant touch! For the money people pay some things in the main areas feel very tired like the pool tables for "american pool" had thick dust in all the sides. The activities were good fun overall but do feel quite short lived we done the quad bike safari and I genuinely thought we were practicing before going on a trail through a wooded area but no the whole "safari" was following the instructor round a muddy field. The restaurant were good overall but we had a bad experience in "cafe rougue" my food was warm at best and had a skin over it my dad ordered a fillet and it was clear it hadn't been rested, hard as nails then all the juices ran out when he cut into it. When we raised this with the manager he never said anything apart from "I'll sort it in the bill" with a wink no apology, he took the fillet off but left the service charge on which I thought would be a no brainer to take off as well! When the Waitress brought the bill over she asked us to check it over but stood at the edge of the table and watched us go through the bill and went "is it OK or will I get my manager" it just felt very strange literally never had a server stand over the table while going through the bill.Overall a relaxing weekend but for the money paid I think there should be a refurbishment and maybe increase the service charge a bit and give the waiting staff something to actually try for! In my experience no money incentive= less effort!

I love Centre Parcs and Whinfell is my favourite of their sites by a country mile!We visited early March 2024 with all the family across two 4 bedroom lodges and I was really impressed. Not sure it they've been refurbished recently or the housekeeping and maintenance teams are doing a grand job but the place was absolutely spotless! We stayed in Fell View and the equipment included was fantastic for the money. Jacuzzi bath and a sauna (well - infrared room) in a couple of the rooms was a really pleasant surprise.Love the beds and bedding... So cosy and cuddly. I don't often like to sleep in the same bed as the wife if I can avoid it but on this occasion I was looking forward to bedtime each day.Visited the Lakeside Inn for a family meal on the Sunday and was really pleased with the service. I'm not really into carvery so I had Fish which was absolutely delicious but I am not quite sure I get the pairing with french fries... Proper chips for me next time please!Oh - watch out for the prices of drinks in there... £7 a pint for cider was a shock to a Yorkshireman! The one drawback I noticed is that Centre Parcs seem to be losing control of their no car policy. I get that some might need to leave early and as such exceptions might be made, but from late Sunday afternoon the place was filling up with wazzocks belting around in mum trucks and those awful silent electric cars. And for no other reason than to secure a decent parking space to leave at 10am the next day. It's meant to be a safe place kids can ride around and parents can relax in the knowledge they're not going to splattered under Karen's range rover?!Rooms: Really are a level above some of the other Centre Parcs I have visitedSafety: Centre parcs need to tighten up car access. I get that everyone is so important, and they really want the closest parking space. It's selfish and it's at the expense of the resorts safety.Walkability: Bit hilly if you're old and decrepit like my wife. Or you have wheelchairs. If you let one go, it might be tricky to catch them again in places.
