We had dinner on Monday night & the food was fabulous, the service was excellent. I would thoroughly recommend this lovely country pub to anyone wanting a fantastic meal.Food & drinks: I had Cumberland sausage with chips & gravy, fantastic gravy. My wife had a very large fish (whale) & chips with mushy peas. Both meals were fantastic.

On route to Portsmouth. So we chose the Plough to breakup the journey, and the reviews we had read. Also it is situated in a quiet little village not far from the motorway. We would definitely stay there again.Rooms: Our room was very clean, big, spacious with an on suite.Safety: There were no concerns with safety. The staff and the other customers were very friendly who where happy to chat.Food & drinks: My wife and I, both had steak pie, chips and masses of fresh vegetables. The food and service was very good.

Phoned and booked a double room whilst we were enroute from Orkney. When we arrived the proprietor gave our room to someone else and then denied all knowledge of us despite taking note of my number and giving me detailed information of how to find the establishment. I offered to pay a deposit too. Very disappointing and we then spent the night/morning getting home. Appreciate it?s v busy in the Lake District and we should have booked in advance but felt very let down by an obviously well respected Inn.

Lovely pub with clean and fresh interior. Helpful service. Lovely food. Dog friendly. Car park and seating outside. Beautiful old church and surrounds with the Wreay Pettril River and walk options.

Beautiful meal chicken burger in a light batter. Portion sizes excellent if you can't finish then take the rest home in a takeaway box. Excellent chef

Bread board and then cumberland sausage with chips. Very nice very filling. Zero alcohol beer on tap as well.What's not to like.Well worth a visit.It was very quiet when we went so no problem booking a table of 4.We will be back.

Had a lovely meal with the family here last weekend, food was delicious, warm friendly atmosphere and great service, we don?t eat out too often but glad we chose The Plough this time, will definitely be back.
