Situated at the North end of Lake Windermere at Newbry Bridge is Lakes Quarium. Tickets are reasonably priced, and there is a good variety of fish and other animals/insects to see. Also, there is a gift shop and cafe next door as well as toilets (which are very clean. You can take a tour of Lake Windermere from here, and there is a ferry that will take you across to Fells Foot. We'll worth a visit.

A great experience, especially for babies. The bright colours and movement of the fish really gets their attention.
The venue is quite small and you're round the whole thing in less than 40 minutes. There are also no toilets inside the building and you'll need to use the ones on the railway platform around the corner. There is also a cafe and boat stop on the platform so plenty to see. Well worth the visit.

For the price not a lot to look at,

Small aquarium, definitely worth seeing the otter talk at half 11. Ants were very call crawling along the rope.
Combined boat and aquarium ticket is excellent value at £26 per adult. Under threes are free for both. 4 &5 year olds are paid at aquarium but free on the boat.

Doesn?t take long to visit but definitely worth it. Loved the otters and the leaf cutter ants. Worth knowing the car park is £3 for 2 hours, cash only. Plenty of views to take in after the aquarium to use up the rest of the 2 hours. Visited during the week and we almost had the place to ourselves. If you buy tickets online before midnight of the day you visit, you can save around £2 per ticket.

There is nothing in the aquarium, it is filthy and not maintained properly. Not worth the money.

Love it. So many different areas to see. The underwater tunnel is fascinating but where else can you see leaf cutter ants at work or poison dart frogs. On top of coral reefs, otters etc all in natural as possible habitats

Small aquarium, entertaining for the kids and the part with the ants was amazing but unfortunately, it seems that most of the people/families visit that place on rainy days and it can get crowded very quickly, making the experience quite painful.
Also, the place looks very old and would need some refreshment.

The aquarium itself is good and interesting with a limited length that holds childrens interest. We have visited before and pre-booked expected limited availability on a wet august day.
On arrival we found people queuing out the door as there was no limitation to numbers other than how quickly they could take people's money. This lead to people queuing through the length of aquarium, line astern.
This did somewhat impact the enjoyment of the experience as you are forced to move at the pace of everyone else and queue to see each exhibit. Our more claustrophobic party member was certainly quite uncomfortable.

Expensive venue for a visit and to be honest it was a let down, not much to see and not very informative, you can learn more on You-tube.

Very overcrowded and underwhelming, had nice sights but not worth the high price and chaos.

Looking for something to do on a rainy day and decided to visit the Lakes Aquarium. Some very good exhibits, but let down by the need for repairs that aren't addressed - several displays were difficult to see because lighting was not working. The PA system for the otter enclosure was not working (the sign saying this suggested this wasn't a new thing), so the young lady who was training the otters had to come outside and explain the same thing to many groups of people. She was excellent with her knowledge and with explaining, but having to make up for a broken PA system isn't good.
Surprise exhibits of the field mice and ants were very nice to see.

Great to see a UK nature aquarium educating people about invasive species and native species. A couple of the enclosures were a little small but the overall theme for going from lake to sea and following the coast and seeing things like star fish you can see at the coast was really different and good. For 10 quid or under if you book a head it was enjoyable.
