Popped in as thought place looked nice. Was i wrong really unfriendly place, looked at me like had 3 heads.
Very over priced food and drinks. Full of snobs, want a better place to go drive further up road. Never again. Avoid if want to feel unwelcome.

What absolutely unfriendly pub ever been in my life. Walked in with family like walking into a strangers house. Expensive thought was in London. Never ever again. Kids hurt themselves on play area not safe. Shocking place.

Stopped in as a britstop for the night. They were lovely. Big empty gravel car park. Had a pint and a burger. Little expensive at nearly 20 quid for food and a small before burger and some skinny fries came out. Id say it was above regular pub standards. But quite small. Lovely building. Nice people. In the middle of nowhere so not much atmosphere.

We came for a wake after the funeral had been held 11am at the crematorium up the road, meaning we were finished and heading towards the pub at around 11:40. On arrival we had to wait in the carpark until 12pm before we were let in, which seems odd considering the pub and the crematorium are run by the same people and should be a little flexible. At least it wasn't raining. The inside is nicely decorated. Not sure if there are different options in terms of buffet items, but the food we had was very poor. The sandwiches had hardly any filling and the bread was stale. The cheese and pickle was pickle with a tiny bit of grated cheese, the only thing I could taste in the egg mayo sandwich was the margarine, the jam for the scones was in big chunks which made it quite difficult to take just what you needed. A good stir would have sorted that. The two members of staff were ok, nothing special, Sid the job without being particularly friendly. This was a pretty disappointing visit especially after a funeral when you just want to spend a couple of good hours with family and friends

Great hidden gem. Rooms well decorated and equipped. Food and drink decent. Ensure you pre order breakfast if not in the room rate.
Ample size car park, nice walk to angel steps nearby.

Amazing find on my business trip back south from Scotland, service was amazing (Chris) and loved the food (Luke)
Room was very clean couldn't find fault with anything and I stay in a lot of hotels.

We popped in for evening meal. Nice selection of food on menu. Food and service were spot on. Ample portions. Good selection of beers wines and spirits. Would definitely return.

Both delicious and cooked to perfection. 10 out of 10!

Stayed for one night with my elderly mother and everyone was so kind. She has mobility problems and found the few stairs difficult but we were given the nearest room to top of stairs and it was very comfortable and roomy with ample space to move around. Everywhere was clean and tidy and beds were very comfortable. Incidentally upon initial booking I was told there was no lift installed and it was my choice to continue with the booking

The Tavern is a beautiful old pub, with open stone work, fireplaces, cosy nooks, airy bar, cosy restaurant.
Friendly, helpful staff, delicious meals and breakfast.
Very comfortable beds, beautiful room and a stunning bathroom in room four!.
The room overlooks the A6, which is very busy, so bring ear plugs if you want to sleep before 11.00pm.
We would happily come here again!
