Food is really nice.
We went on a Sunday and I would advise you book in advance. Lovely setup, nice and spacious. Can recommend the Shellfish Chowder!
Didn?t stay so can?t comment on the rooms.
If you?re in a wheelchair, everything is on one level and you can definitely get in from the rear, be advised though, doors are narrow in places and you might find it difficult without help.

We stopped here after a hike in the mountains. We found this place by accident, but we'll definitely be back. The decor is beautiful, the service friendly, and the food was simply delicious.

Currently eating dessert (buttermilk pane cotta) the starter of soufflé and main of roast beef has been exceptional. It?s a long time since I?ve had such a good 3 courses.
Definitely be back ! Roast potatoes to die for.

We were staying locally so booked a table for dinner on the Saturday evening. The meal was delicious and the service excellent. We would recommend the Wheatsheaf Inn for dining.

The food, service and location were fantastic! A short (albeit terrifying) drive from Kendal and well worth it.

We stopped by here while our walking and had amazing pizza for lunch. The chef was knowledgeable and friendly and made us the best pizza we have ever tasted. Top quality fare and a lovely location. Highly recommended

We had dinner at the Wheatsheaf Inn. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. The two young ladies who were doing the serving were unobtrusively attentive and deserve a special mention for helping to make our evening so pleasant.

This place is just fantastic. We visit for lunch regularly and have had evenings meals 4 or 5 times in the last few months. The staff can?t do enough for you. Always welcoming and happy to help. The food is thoroughly wonderful. This evening for instance one of our party had the fish and chips - I?d not ordered this before and witnessed a giant piece of cod in golden batter surrounded by home made glassy crisp chips. Halfway through the orderer (well into his 70s) said it was up there with the best fish and chips he?s ever had. I had the burger (again, I had it last week as well!), perfectly cooked moist thin double patty in a perfectly soft yet textured brioche with glazed onions and pickled gherkins - every bite a dream. The dark chocolate mouse dessert - just wow. I could eat this all night. In previous weeks my wife and I have loved the folded flat bread sandwiches at lunch - such flavourful combinations and ingenuity, these sandwiches seriously wouldn?t be out of place at street food locations in any major city. If I had to find issues it would only be with the range of cask ales on - they had two great Robinson beers tonight and regularly. These are kept in great condition - though I?d love to see a few rotating guest casks on as well. Alas, I know not everyone drinks cask.

Lunch on a Monday or Tuesday is a challenge round these parts.
Added to the roster - bonus Eccles cake for dessert (not shown)

The Wheatsheaf Inn, in Brigsteer is a very high quality place to enjoy a meal in the Lake District. A very cosy pub by the river with both indoor and outdoor seating and Some of the best food that the area has to offer. Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy high quality food located in a beautiful area of the lakes.

A last minute decision to have Sunday lunch here turned out to be a brilliant idea. We sat outside in the sun and all had different choices off the menu and the four us were very content and full!
A good choice of beer and a fantastic menu that?s been well thought out, definitely worth a visit ??

Fantastic pub lunch at the Wheatsheaf, and will certainly be back for dinner. We'd just missed the lunchtime kitchen opening, but the staff graciously accommodated us. Lunch menu covered a selection of wraps and pub classics.
The pub is now under new ownership, previously a Robinson's; it's dog friendly, with a small beer garden out front, and ideal location for walks from Sizergh/Brigsteer/Kendal over Scout Scar.
