Family of 4 here. We came in late and very hungry. We decided to eat in. We had fabulous food that was piping hot and perfectly cooked.
The portions are huge! Well recommended!

Fish and chips are absolutely bang on and there prices are much cheaper than 99% of chippies across the uk will definitely call again next time I come through

Full plates and great tucker. Well worth a meal in this modest but great chippy, and is the better for not having a make over.

Beautiful fish and chips. Good portion size. Fish was really good. Kids enjoyed their meals. Great service. Reasonably priced.

Absolutely Disgusting Prices £5.50 For a Large Battered Sausage and Chips £3.50 for 2 cans of coke Highly recommend you stay away food quality is shocking ,if you want food go to the spar down to road

Went to Kirkby Stephen to meet some friends and we decided to have some fish and chips for lunch at the Horse shoe restaurant where we have visited several times before this was a mistake it was the worst fish and chips I've ever had, god knows what they fry the fish in but the batter tasted awful, the chips were greasy you could actually see the grease on the plate and the staff were ignorant we sat inside at a small booth we asked if we could sit in the restaurant part because we had a child in a push chair but was refused on the grounds they had no staff.I noted that the premises are up for sale I just hope whoever buys it doesn't find that the previous owner has destroyed the reputation of this chippie before it gets started

Thought we would try dining in as weather not to good but wish we hadn't! Although there were a small number of people sitting down the dining area was blocked off with chairs. We asked if we could sit down and they reluctantly let us. We ordered fish and chips for 2, portions were quite small and a bit pricey but that didn't bother us too much. What did was the couldn't be bothered attitude of the staff. Nobody asked us if the meal was ok all they wanted was payment immediately the plates were put in front of us. We noticed the business is up for sale which may be the reason they don't care about customers but we wouldn't recommend eating here. Only wish we had read previous reviews before choosing to eat here.

I ordered 2 large battered sausages and chips but when I got home I got 2 small sausages! I thought my order was correct hence the price but was very annoyed to find its just expensive. Portion size was rather small and wasn't keen on the batter either. I advise anyone looking for a decent takeaway to avoid this place.

Welcome and friendly staff, good tasting chips with fast service. Only problem was small portions, luckily I ordered two, but maybe I?m just greedy. Highly recommend!

The fish was awful , really greasy dark batter and fish very slimy curry sauce was like wallpaper paste with lumps of jelly in it. Ended up in the bin!Complete waste of money!STAY AWAY! try the chippy a few doors down

Decent, unpretentious fish and chippy with a welcoming sit-in area. The plate was piled high with cod perhaps slightly over-battered, great chips a bit soft just the way I like them, and real mushy peas. We got lucky.

Really awful, big shame as a year ago they were lovely. Cold, greasy and fish thoroughly overcooked, threw most of it away.
