All hotels should be like this. Beautiful location, easy parking, quiet and clean with genuinely pleasant, helpful staff and an outstanding breakfast.

I have stayed many places in the Lakes, and the Highfield is up there. The Building/Property is stunning for its age. What a privilege to be able to stay in such a 1st Class English hose. The location is just perfect with views over to Cat Bells and beyond yet only 3/4 minutes walk into town, and a BIG plus the Highfield has its own Car Park? We would definitely stay here again.. The staff are very warm and welcoming. No negatives what so ever..

We have stayed here many times and never been disappointed. The breakfast is very good - shame the hotel no longer serves dinner. Spacious free car park for guests, which is a big plus in Keswick. Friendly and efficient staff.Rooms: Very clean and well appointed.

Overall our stay was good. But it was very warm when we stayed (highs ~24C) and since there is no AC and the unit is located on the top floor and only had 2 small windows, the room was VERY WARM and stuffy pretty much our entire stay. I know it's not common to have AC in the UK and it was unseasonable warm, but as an American, it was pretty uncomfortable. They provide a very small fan but it really doesn't do much. Also note there are no elevators so you'll have to carry your bags up 1 or 2 flights of stairs (they did offer to help though). Also, if you go in the front door, there is a few stairs and gravel, so you have to carry your bags there too. Now the positives are it was a very convenient location. The bathroom/shower were very nice and the bed was comfortable. Also, breakfast was very good and filling. I appreciated that they basically let you customize the breakfast to get what you want, but they didn't understand my request for hot sauce :) We stayed in room 21 and I'll post pictures of our view so you know what you're getting.

This was our first visit to The Highfield, and we will be back! We only stayed for two nights, after getting married, but we enjoyed our stay. Our room was spotless, and the bed was very comfy! We stayed in room 5, and had a double aspect view.Staff were brilliant, and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts were incredible, but the plates were so big on the table it felt a little crowded. Excellent breakfast offering, and it was delicious! The honesty bar is a great idea, and so is the coffee and cake in the afternoons. We could leave the car in the hotel car park and walk into Keswick to get our evening meals.Thankyou Team Highfield ??Rooms: Room 5 was spacious and clean. Bed was very comfy, and so were the leather armchairs in front of the bay window.

Fantastic position in a quiet part of Keswick town, with great views of Catbells and the surrounding area. Only a few minutes walk down to the lake or the town square.Handy "Free" off road parking included. If it rains there are two lounge areas to shelter in.Couldn't fault the breakfast or the staff.Booked a single room, but on arrival was upgraded to one of the turret rooms (room had views of Catbells in one direction and Skiddaw in the other). If you haven't stayed here for a while, they no longer do evening meals, but there are plenty of pubs and places to choose from in Keswick town centre. Will I return?....You bet I will, might even take the wife next time.

We've been to Derwentwater and Keswick many times, this was first time staying in Highfield. We were a bit sceptical, as lots of hotels there can be a bit of a hit and miss, but this place did not disappoint! It has fantastic location, 5 min walk to Keswick Town centre and the lake shore. There is a roomy car park for guests, and as we arrived earlier than check-in allowed, the staff were more than happy for us to leave the car and come back later. The room was clean, with big bed, nice hot shower, lovely clean towels. It also had a lovely (partial, but still lovely) view to the lake. The staff were very helpful, friendly, and happy to answer any questions. Downstairs area has an honesty bar (why more places doesn't have such thing??) with very comfy and accommodating seating area, including a small balcony with views of the hotel garden. Perfect for sipping some wine after day of hiking, while watching the sunset. We didn't eat at the hotel, but their breakfast, teas and cakes looked absolutely delicious, and I'm sure we will try them next time!

Stayed for a few nights prior to going to Langdale. Had room 2 which has breathtaking views towards Derwent Water. Hotel is very clean, tidy and quiet. Nice gardens with seats to the front and car park with hotel access at the rear. Room was very nice, recently decorated. Staff all excellent and friendly Breakfast very good ? breakfast area could do with a bit of colour to cheer it up a bit. The only issue we had was the bed ? not comfortable at all. Neither my partner or myself slept well at all for the duration of our stay. Poor quality mattress on a solid, unsprung bed base. Shame ? not sure we?d return on that one issue, good restful sleep is essential when you?re on holiday to relax and rest.

We enjoyed a last-minute weekend away to Keswick and had the pleasure of staying at The Highfield - a truly exceptional hotel. We stayed in room 4 on the second floor which featured a very comfy kingsize bed with a lovely large headboard, a spotless en-suite bathroom and balcony with views out over Hope Park and Derwent Water. Award-winning breakfast is a title they deserve multiple times over. We both enjoyed their eggs benedict and it was truly outstanding. Staff were lovely and helpful. Highly recommend a stay here.

Small but excellent hotel. The owners were so polite and helpful, made me feel so welcome. The single room was more than adequate and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was great - freshly cooked and piping hot. So close - 30 yards! - from the prom and a tram stop! Thoroughly recommend.

Welcoming, with lovely staff. Great location, only 5 minute walk into town or 10 minute to the lake via a lovely park with pitch n put, and electric model boats. Breakfast was amazing! It was made to order and brought to your table on hot plates. The scrambled egg was perfect. Homemade cake and complimentary tea/coffee each afternoon, the day we arrived, the lovely lady brought us both a price to our room, as we?d arrived just after it had finished. The view was lovely, looking out over the park and beyond. Definitely would recommend and hope to be back - thank you .
