I expect on a kingsize bed a kingsizeDuvet not two double. They ran out of gin and most wines. Our meal was poorSmall portion of overcooked fish and no veg they had run out recieved veg when we had eaten our meal ran out of deserts. Breakfast bacon small piece over cooked tinned muchrooms. Would be better to give walk info after meal so as not too be eating so late.Hotel location good staff friendly walk good but our four night break cost over £800 we expect better could have gone to Canary Isles for a week.

October 30.arrived to a pleasant reception. Room was of upgrade.noisey central heating boiler below window. Came on at 4 30 in morning. Toilet overflow needed attention. Scandinavian style bed set up.where duvet is folded over.sleep in-between. First night meal doesn't start till 7 30.finished 10 30 after dessert. Problems in kitchen. Chicken had been kept warm,it dried up.ran out of veg.so main course eaten without veg.not cooked when arrived.poor guality.green beans/mangetout/& sliced leek.!!.no choice of dessert as they had run out.breakfast continued in same vain.dried up bacon,blackpudding.hash brown oily.food improved over the week.if l was staying in 4star hotel l would have refused to pay for this choice of menus. This was an organised break with 26 people. We had to stay and endure.never again with h.f.

There were two parts to this trip to Derwentwater with HF holidays. Excellent: The location, right in the edge of Derwentwater, the staff, the guided walks and our deluxe room were all excellent. Extremely poor: The evening meals, after long days walking, were extremely disappointing. The total package was £2600 per couple. The evening meals were more like school dinners than what you would expect from this kind of organisation. Even the guests we took with us commented the same.

Lovely friendly staff who are always Willing to help. Food was very good and the position on the shores of Derwentwater is perfect for walks up Catbells and into Newlands Valley.Room 40 is OK Classic room with huge bathroom. Very warm on arrival and no way to adjust the monster radiator. Resorted to wrapping it in the bed runner and that worked fine.

Great organisation, great food, great venue. This is our first HF holiday and definitely won't be our last. Chris and Dave were our guides for the two days up catbells and scafell pike. Fantastic weekend full of good banter and encouragement.

Stayed here whilst on an HF Holidays walking trip ( they own the property) . Location excellent, 20 minute walk to Keswick , excellent walking in immediate area, Derwent lake at bottom of garden. Very handy that local paddle boarding Company ( Lake District Paddle Board) also launch their SUPS from bottom of garden , so did a super fun SUP Introduction 3 hour lesson. Food was very good and all staff extremely helpful.

On the banks of the lake. HF look after their guests with great walking leaders or uou can do your own thing. Yummy generous food . Can walk into Keswick from here
