We chose Lakeland Fireplace & Stoves because we were recommended to them by a number of people in Kendal and their price for a fire was competitive. Originally, we were going to get a wood burning stove but changed our minds and went for a gas fire. The staff in the shop were very pleasant and did not mind us switching the fire. When the installation came, everyone turned up and it went very smoothly. They were friendly and polite. In summary, we would recommend the shop to anyone who is considering getting a fire. We will be snug, when the winter arrives!

I would highly recommend anyone wanting to buy a fireplace from Lakeland fire places and stoves, the owner Gordan, was very informative and in no means pushy to make a sale. Very friendly down to earth guy who knows his stuff, will definitely be back in the near future to buy some lights as they sell a nice selection of chandeliers aswell.

It started well. Our fire place and Esse stove are lovely. That part worked out well. My issue and watch out to future buyers is Gordon?s after sales care and our misguided trust in him to recommend the right fitters and put things right when they go wrong. Which they can. The choice of Fitters he uses and recommends to help fit or repair is where I have a terrible experience. The fact he has ignored our attempts to call him to talk about it and meet him to find a reasonable solution, also sits badly. Our story is that the first fitters forgot to fix the surround to the wall and it became dislodged. When we alerted Gordon, we were told that his fitter had retired but he could refer us to his new fitter which turns out to be an asbestos removal company in Kendal called AAMS. They came round and fixed it. I asked what I owed and the fitter said nothing as far as he knows and to talk to Gordon. We then received a bill. I sent it to Gordon, which he ignored. Roll on a few more months and frustration all round, and he has declined to talk, and simply sent us a written letter claiming he was not responsible and only deals in selling the fireplace. Add further drama and the asbestos company issued a money claim to me through the courts. I have settled the invoice now as I can?t be bothered or have the energy. I am so disappointed in both Gordon and his fitters. Never again and a real shame he didn?t even have the decency to take a call and be reasonable about it. Perhaps to go half on the 240 pounds owed to the fitter. That is not integrity. And that is why he gets a 1 out of 5 in this review.

Had a wood burner with gas fitting fitted. Service was excellent. I wasn't sure about the black slate surround that Gordon recommended, but it was the right choice. Perfect.

Gordon was excellent with his level of communication and knowledge about both the local area and what was possible, and how to get it done. He rightly has a huge amount of faith in the people that work for him and his suppliers, all of which did their jobs fantastically well.
When multiple other suppliers had told me that the job could not be done, Gordon didn't even flinch in agreeing to do the job, knowing that his team would find a way. They were then able to do it remarkably quickly for us, for which we are all very grateful.

Very long and costly service. Read the small print as verbally told ?price includes everything? but small print says otherwise. Could buy all the same brand stuff cheaper else were with less hassle. Left without a working stove at the end of it and am having to pay someone else to finish the job! Thanks Gordon!

From enquiry to installation I felt that Gordon was creating a customer and not just a sale.He is very knowledgeable and gave us good advice without us feeling any pressure to buy.We were kept informed regarding delivery and installation.David and his colleague arrived when they said they would and finished the job when they said they would-to our complete satisfaction.Excellent customer service from Gordon and his colleagues- I recommend them.
