As a bonus, there is an excellent ice-cream parlour next door, ( if your mouth is not still numb!)It's a matter of individual regret, and national shame, that such high quality dental care is so costly and quite unaffordable for the majority of the population. Surely there could be a revised and affordable standardised rate of future NHS charges, somewhere between private and present NHS fees? Compromise is urgently required if the Nation is not to become entirely toothless!!Unfortunately, under the present NHS contract, dentists simply are not allocated sufficient time to deliver the level of service offered privately. Hence the relentless drift away from NHS dentistry. In my 78 years, I have reluctantly parted company with at least 20 excellent dentists who, no longer willing or able to tolerate the tyranny of NHS bureaucracy, consequently retreated to the private sector.Something has to change.....and pretty soon.”
