Stopped off for a quick drink. Charming, knowledgeable, patient bar staff, good low alcohol own brewed IPA, lovely spot. Would definitely go back.

Really disappointed after supporting The Bulls Head for years. Visited today with my 17-year-old son as part of a family group, intending to enjoy a meal and drinks?well within UK licensing law.
Management refused to serve us, citing ?policy,? and added offhandedly that ?there are other places in the village? we could go. That kind of attitude feels out of place in what?s supposed to be the hospitality business. Unwelcoming and unnecessarily rigid in 2025.

Cracking pub in the centre of Coniston. The best cask ale I've had in ages. Try the Old Man Ale and No.9 Barley Wine. Highly recommended.

£5 for a pint of coke. Wow!

Oh dear. Had high expectations of a £10 cheese and tomato sandwich but was sadly disappointed. Cheap bread, totally tasteless cheap cheese, barely any tomato. And a small, sad side salad. Gave us something to talk about over lunch! - a great day in Coniston spoiled a bit by a really poor experience at the Black Bull.

Great pub in the heart of Coniston, excellent range of local beers, Old Man Ale is highly recommended. Great food too. My only gripe is they don?t accept cash, which I think is a dangerous decision going forward, many people including myself prefer cash. If it wasn?t for the fact I love this pub I would have moved on.

Prison food at a la carte price, gave us a good laugh though. Drinks and service were excellent. Chef needs putting on the naughty step.

Fabulous meal -Fish Pie and homemade soup. Exemplary beer brewed 20yds away - and they even have a Belgian guest.
Staff are friendly and efficient and we?ll definitely come back.

Took a group to this charming Lake District pub, drawn in by the postcard-perfect exterior and cozy interior. Expectations were high? and hilariously unmet. We ordered the £10 toasties and sandwiches, which turned out to be the culinary equivalent of a practical joke: the cheapest bread known to man, gently embracing a lonely slice of filling.
Visually, it was performance art?like someone asked, ?How sad can lunch look?? and then charged a tenner for the punchline. Taste-wise? Let?s just say we left with lighter wallets but emptier souls.
To be fair, we did get a great laugh out of it. Five stars for ambiance, one star for food, and an honorary Michelin star for sheer audacity.

Had a meal there, the pub was packed inside and on outside tables by the river (450+ meals that evening!) and they couldn't serve us straight away but a hard working staff member came to our table as promised 10 mins later when the kitchen caught up and took our order, the meal came hot, delicious and 15 mins later. A good selection of drinks and beers. Cosy, noisy but happy noise.
