Visited again today for lunch - Popped in and reserved a table first friendly and helpful. Then went back a couple of hours later. I opted for pie of the day with peas and gravy, it was on the specials board with chips, but foregoing the chips wasn't a problem.
The pie was home made jammed full of beefsteak and both tasty and filling
Hightly reccomend and very good value

What a delightful experience we had a big pot of tea, the scampi and chips were out of the world. The staff are very friendly, they make you feel at home as soon as you walk in. The place itself was extremely clean and bright. We came from Dover to see wordsworth house and it was recommended by David.

Regular visitor with wife for breakfast, cuppa and orange juice. Always perfect. Takeaway scones and cakes. Must be doing something right as we make make a 24 mile round trip just for breakfast sometimes, if were not doing anything else in Cockermouth.

What a find. Fabulous little cafe accessed by an alley from the High Street. Plenty of options available including lunches and teas and all day breakfast. Polite and friendly service with really nice touches incl play area and old style games, alice in wonderland pictures. Good quality food served hot and as we were leaving to set off on our long journey back down south, the owner gave us some fresh scones as it was close to closing, what a lovely and kind thing to do. Just a shame we only found them on our last day. Will definitely try and go back next time in the area and recommend to anyone visiting, support local

We had a lovely meal here last week, whilst staying in the area. Accessed through a short alley off the main street, the cafe is situated in a courtyard. It was a friendly, welcoming atmosphere with a good menu. Food was delicious and really good quality. Excellent value for money, we would definitely return here.

Best scones we?ve ever had. The owner bakes 2 different ?Scones of the Day freshly made everyday?. Sooo good.

We went to this little place, tucked away behind the main street down a narrow passageway, for a light lunch. We decided on double eggs and chips because it was simple, light and relatively good value.
We had a brief conversation with the woman who served us (presumably the owner) about the local area and she was very pleasant and conversational.
The food took a little time to arrive (we were hungry, and to be honest, a little impatient!), but when it did, we were not disappointed with what we received.
The eggs were nice and large, with bright runny yolks, and properly cooked --solid whites, runny yolks (how many times are eggs served snotty?). The chips were well cooked, crisp, freshly cooked and generous. The chips were served on a plate, not in a stupid basket, or ramekin, to make it look like there are more than actually there.
For such a simple meal, the food was nicely cooked and well presented, without pretense.

I have just enjoyed a wonderful lunch of cauliflower and Brie soup with a herbed scone and it was delicious! Staff are friendly and the garden courtyard is a wonderful sun trap.
There is lots here for children to play with inside and out. A hidden gem that is too easy to to potentially walk past. Definitely recommend. And great value.
Card payments are accepted over £5 the sign on the entrance is for a different business I think as it nearly stopped me coming in.
