Had some drinks here and booked for a meal whilst away on a break, stunning pub in a lovely location. Treated like we were locals from the minute we arrived. Food is fantastic, really hearty pub portions. Thoroughly recommend ?

We stayed here for two nights in the Premier Room 8. The room was excellent with a fabulous view and a private sitting out area. This is a real traditional Lakeland pub with log fire, newspapers in the bar and great staff who were unfailingly cheerful, friendly and helpful. The food was great, whether breakfast or dinner. It was a real treat staying here and there are a range of walks from the pub door. The only thing that could have improved our stay would have been some soft fluffy towels!

Fabulous location, great fire with comforting food to complement. Superb stay for 1 night with bags of character, over 490 years? view from our room was pretty special as the picture illustrates more the words can reflect.

What a lovely place - recommended by local family, we made a reservation and were greeted so warmly by several members of the team before managing to snag the table between the fire and window (best in the pub I think!) Food was delicious, served hot and with a smile! Can?t fault it at all

Enjoyed a nice hearty walking lunch with 3 people. Not overnight. Great location as a starting point for smaller (or very large) walks with fantastic views. Rustic appearance with fantastic outside terrace. Quite a lot of parking for guests.

Food and drinks: Enjoyed a nice hearty walking lunch with 3 people. Service efficient, friendly, relaxed. Vega options well thought out, more choice would have been nice. Fish & chips well executed, nothing spectacular. Chicken burger made from real chicken, large portion, approved by the meat-eating among us.

Stopped here for dinner on Friday evening as a group of 20. They were very accommodating and friendly the whole time we were there. Service was very quick and food was delicious!
The views around here are absolutely stunning as well.

Dropped in for a post fell-pounding day. The welcome is always warm & friendly. The beers are superb and the views tremendous. Sadly not able to stay the night. Menu really extensive. Filled with pub pleasers as well as specials.
