Breakfast only. Good plateful, neatly oresented, but self-service selection was a bit more limited compared to past while price has bumped up. Selection perhaps understandable as out of busy season.Walkability: Set in old market area of Cockermouth so a very short walk into old Georgian Main Street. Pay carpark opposite.

Great stay with our Airedale dog. All the staff we met were so friendly & helpful, breakfast was great (even Amos had his own breakfast!) and set us up for the day. Hotel was clean, comfortable, charming and warm and in a great location. We will definitely be back!

Credit to the staff who work in this hotel, they are fab people, so friendly and attentive. The room was nice but very cold, (understandably the building is over 300 years old but a little too chilly for me.) But again, the staff got a heater for us etcThe food from bloc was amazing!! Huge portions and delicious. Overall, a good stay here with the dog and close enough to explore the Lake District.

We travelled from Ayrshire and stayed here for my birthday weekend, which was at the same time as the xmas food festival. On arrival they gave us a complimentary upgrade which was a lovely surprise. Staff were welcoming. We had booked dinner at Blocks which was lush and staff were very friendly and helpful ..even making us cocktails at the bar when they were busy.Slept great and breakfast was just what was required both mornings, after doing a pub crawl the night before. Would definitely stay here again.Parking was roughly £12 from the Friday until the Sunday in the car park straight across the road.

Great central Cockermouth accommodation just off the Main Street. We were at the front and it wasn't too noisy at all. Nice spacious room with a huge comfortable bed and sofa. The Cumbrian breakfast was superb with quality bacon and delicious Cumberland sausage. The steak restaurant wasn't open on our nights so can't comment on that.Parking was off site at the leasure centre which was only a few minutes walk away (pass provided). All the staff were very friendly and helpful. A great find and we really enjoyed our couple of days there.

Come to the allerdale court for local delicacies for local ales and for smart bedrooms. The humble staff the fair prices the very central location and the menus were also an attraction for us. We didn?t use the car all weekend

The quality of the breakfast, room linen, bedroom furniture, facilities were all very high. The restaurant was also a lovely treat from hubby. The staff were a tier above what we have experienced else where.

In a front room very noisy. One of the pillows had what looked like mould on. Shower was OK but only in your 5ft 5inches and under. Breakfast was OK buffet was better chef need to cook eggs little bit more

Our room was very nice - spacious and a spacious bathroom too. Unloading the car was a problem as the loading bay was full of parked cars (parking restrictions end at 6.30) and there is nowhere to unload without blocking the traffic. Our room faced the front so there was some noise from the local "boy racers" but it calmed down eventually. There are a lot of stairs up to the higher floors. Breakfast was good although not all the detail had been thought through eg there were tea pots for making tea but no jugs to put milk in.

I only stayed for one night as part of a Lake District walking trip. Staff were very good, nothing was too much trouble and the breakfast was one of the best I have had. My single room was clean, comfortable and plenty of hot water. Would highly recommend. I though the lack of parking would be a problem but their system works .

A real gem on the edge of the Lake District National Park. We had not been to Cockermouth before and have to say it is absolutely charming. We arrived to a spotless and spacious room. Staff were absolutely wonderful. Breakfast was fresh local and delicious. Great value

I give the location 5 stars because it is in the centre of town but we were in a room at the front, which was noisy with the windows open (constantly). We had an executive room, which was not very executive and also not very clean. The shower was awful and tiny. The parking arrangement is not ideal. The bed was comfy (although it was two put together so you get the line in the middle) and breakfast was good. For £125 a night I would have expected more.

This is quite a basic hotel. The rooms are definitely not fancy and the walls are paper thin (you can hear every single move, step and cough every other guest makes) and they have a bizarre liking for intensely lemon-scented nebulised mist machines in all areas of the hotel. BUT.. it is extremely inexpensive and the staff are really lovely and very attentive to anything you need. It?s also superbly located and has free parking. So on balance I would recommend it. Take ear plugs and you?ll be fine. It definitely suited me.

Although we had a wonderful holiday, the hotel was disappointing. Firstly the good points. 1. Good base to explore the Lakes area. 2. Cockermouth is a wonderful town with some excellent restaurants. 3. Executive rooms and bathrooms are relatively modern / well decorated 4. Staff - Lauren was excellent - went over and above normal levels of service Now the negatives: 1. Pricey for what you get - more than double the price of pretty decent B&Bs - with no better service, rooms etc. 2. Absolute no noise insulation. Whether it's adjoining rooms or those upstairs - and especially if facing the high street. I got woken up a number of times each night - ranging from late night revellers to early morning waste disposal trucks. 3. Woefully understaffed - especially at reception and breakfast 4. Poor daily cleaning of rooms - no vacuuming during entire 6 night stay and I had to ask for bedsheets to be changed after 3 nights. Apparently not changed at all unless you ask. 5. Breakfast quality - although the cooked breakfast is excellent, the other choices are of poor quality - and continuously running out of the basics like water and milk ! Summary - if the owners are going to charge hotel prices, they need to focus less on profit and more on customer service and experience
