Male sure to ask for a room facing away from the road! The windows are single glazed and the curtains are thin so you could hear every car passing and see every headlight, not a good night's sleep. I was staying for work and the wifi was non existent in my room which is not practical either. The hotel itself used to be relatively grand, with stained glass windows in the hallways and lovely grounds, but the rooms are in need of refurbishment.

Just returned from a two night stay at Ennerdale Country House Hotel, amazing value for money. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds, the food was wonderful and every member of staff that we met were so lovely to us and our two dogs.Rooms: We had a large garden room which had patio doors, which was very handy taking the dogs in and out.

Had the all inclusive option and found it exceptional value for money, breakfast was good evening meal also very nice. We went for a hike in the afternoon and the hotel gave us a packed lunch which was a nice touch.

Good room as usual, same problem with access over high kerbside all round site. When going to or leaving our room I have to travel over grassed area when on my buggy, this time it killed my buggy (not permanently) just a shame. Otherwise good stay as usual.

We enjoyed a two night break here. It is true that the house is a bit frayed at the edges, but it is warm and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and efficient, they all worked really hard to help. The food was good and portions large. The room was fine, just a bit tired. All in all it was an enjoyable stay. Good value overall.

This was our third visit. The house itself is quite tired but the grounds are lovely. The staff are brilliant. Rooms are spacious - best to request overlooking the garden. Cleaned every day with fresh towels. Food is really good, freshly cooked, homemade soup and sandwiches on lunchtime are made to order. Good choice for evening dinner - the sticky toffee pud is to die for!! Good choice at breakfast - juice, cereal, fruit and then choice of full Cumbrian breakfast or order separate dishes plus plenty of toast, jam etc and tea and coffee. There are dog-friendly rooms available. Will definitely be back next year.Food & drinks: Good value

Enjoyable stay. The staff were friendly, the room was fine and the food was good, although the building was looking somewhat "tired".

Stayed here on night one of my coast to coast and the staff couldn?t do enough for me. Really kind and polite, they carried my bag up to my room for me. The decor of my room was a little tired but it was really comfortable, bed linen was clean and crisp and the bed was comfy, the bathroom was spotlessly clean and the jacuzzi bath was so welcome after a 15 mile walk. I didn?t eat here but I?d happily stay again if I couldn?t get accommodation in Ennerdale on the C2C.

Overall, a very tired hotel that's in need of updating, although the staff were very nice and the food was good, the shower had a tile missing and the was supposed to be sorted today but wasn't ?, it took about 5 minutes to get into the room because the key didn't work in the lock very well, brought these ti the attention of the manager who was very apologetic and offered free drink, a change of room would have been better but the hotel was full. Not sure I would visit again unless some serious cash was spent on refurbishment.

Stayed for one night and that was enough. Very tired building inside and out, we asked to move rooms 1 hour after arriving(walls are paper thin).Rooms are in desperate need of refurbishment. The food was , just ok, bar area was average and the bar man was doubling up as a waiter so had to wait ages for a drink. Staff were, sort of friendly but very shabbily dressed and gave the impression that they didn't want to be their.Definitely will not be returning.
