We booked and arrived on time. Our table was on the upper floor. We ordered the slow cooked lamb hendry which was a smallish lamb shank with roasted vegetables. We felt that the roasted vegetables were undercooked and very hard the lamb shanks were well cooked but we felt that the whole dish could have been better.
One others criticism is the 10% service charge that's added to your bill, you pay this whether you had a good, bad or indifferent experience.

Jackson's feels like a restaurant that is either punching above its weight or one that was once quite fancy, but has slipped and is coasting on former glory.
Service was curt but friendly. We asked about wine and when they did not have what we were looking for, the waiter made no inquiries into other things we might want, nor did he suggest anything else. It seemed as though he did not want to be bothered with it at all.
The food we ordered was aqequate, but for what appeared to be many frozen ingredients, instead of fresh. Presentation was a seeming afterthought. Each of our entrees was accompanied by a bundle of vegetables. The edible bow tying them together was cute, but the vegetables themselves were bland, unseasoned, and unremarkable. It felt like a trick to make us think it was extra fancy.
The two or three course options were unclear, but we went ahead anyway. One of the dessert specials was a peach crumble. What came out was a mess of dough and canned peaches, truly disappointing.
A few simple elevations could make this a great restaurant, but until then, it is overpriced and underwhelming.

Definitely picked the right spot for evening meal. Made to feel welcome the moment we entered, sat outside as beautiful evening. Starters leek and potato soup and cod and prawns, both very tasty and well presented. The main of duck was sublime, fell off the bone and sauce was rich and very flavoursome. Lady at the start gave a great description of menu and owner was good crack and polite. Lovely meal

Quality food,good choice,excellent service. However,not a fan of the automatic 10% service charge on everything. Would prefer that any gratuities were at the discretion of each person.

Ok. This is the first time I write a long review.
I had the lamb. Local, unique and extremely delicious. The hint of mint aroma is marvellous.
My wife had the burger. She usually eats only half but this time she finished it because she couldn?t stop.
My older son had a steak medium cooked juicy and delicious. My youngest had the chicken nuggets and he liked it.
Now the brownie just came to the table and I am sorry I?ll not review it because I wanna consume the brownie hot and the ice cream cold.

Mega. The food is epic. The GF options are brilliant too, not the usual half arsed effort. We spent all day looking for somewhere for dinner that wasnt going to be a kick in the teeth for my wife. Absolutely amazing food and service, will be back every time we come to windermere now. Can't add photos as our plates are empty...

Amazing food , service and atmosphere. If you haven't already tried Jacksons Restaurant in Bowness them you truly are missing out on some outstanding food. I wish I could rate them more than 5 stars as they deserve it. Same owner for some 31 years and the same chef. Dont just take our word for it as over the last 15 years we have been coming here please try it for yourselves.

8 of us on a Wednesday night refused entry because they only did a table of 6 , so we suggested to split into 2 tables & still refused , quite rude staff member
