The salvation army on abbey Road. The Salvation Army originally began operations in Barrow during Jan. 1881, meeting initially in a building in Preston Street and later in the Royal Amphitheatre, Duke Street. The new citadel: foundation stone is dated 5 Feb. 1910, and it opened on 20 August 1910.This site provides historical information about churches, other places of worship and cemeteries.
