My wife and I have needed glasses for many years now. We lived in Burnley 30 years ago and when we moved to Millom, we attended the Whitehaven branch of our previous optician. We found more and more pressure was being applied to purchase expensive frames, so we quit their service.We discovered Richard Haynes in Barrow in Furness who provide a much better service without any sales pressure at all. Our questions regarding our eyes have always been answered kindly and follow up service is just fine. Thanks to diligence shown, my wife has had hospital treatment after a developing eye problem was discovered by them.We have no intention of using any other optician with the fine experience we receive.We feel their service easily deserves a full FIVE STARS !!!!!

Used this optician for years, this week I have had trouble with my eye, and popped in to ask if I could see the optician - the lady optician said she had a free appointment at 10.55, but I would have to pay the full eye test fee, she then asked if I got free treatment. I said no, I said I would leave it and go to the hospital, she then said " be prepared to wait then, its not as though you have lost a leg"No but what happens if I lose my sight???? Words fail that people can go into a business to help people, but really its all about money - furious doesn't come close.
