We stopped here on the way to Scotland for a light lunch and the hotel / restaurant was amazing - lovely seating area outside, great menu with lots of great choices - very fast service and excellent food which was extremely well presented. They even have a little Geleto place out front where you can buy teas, coffees and cake and ice cream - we will defo stop here again on our travels 10/10 from us!

Fabulous Sunday roast dinner and only £7 for a children's dinner which was great value. Cosy pub with a lovely atmosphere.

Great pub just out of Appleby with a very good choice of food on their menu which was well cooked. We all had fish. Street parking nearby. Friendly staff too.

We stayed for a night recently - the bedroom was excellent, lovely bed and the ensuite was also really good. We ate an evening meal in the restaurant - food and service both perfect. Breakfast the following morning - again, food and service were both perfect. I would happily recommend this hotel - especially to dog owners - I've never come across a more dog-friendly establishment.

Fabulous place to stay and eat. We had lunch on our arrival which was fantastic. Our evening meal was totally delicious and breakfast the following morning was so good.
Would definitely recommend, and will stay here again.
If you're anywhere near Appleby I would make a detour just for a meal xx

Great stay at the Royal Oak for a couple of nights. Stayed in the upper floor which can be a little difficult to navigate if you're taller, but that's the character of this older Inn.
The food was excellent, as was the staff and the traditional English bar. Well worth a visit if your in the Westmorland area.
