Great full pint of Ribblehead ale, perfect temperature.
We called in on the off chance on a walk and we were so pleased to find that there was Sunday lunch available. A big plateful of freshly cooked roast beef, homemade Yorkshire pudding, mashed and roast potatoes, roast parsnips and mashed sweet potato, with delicious gravy. The plate was so full the other veg had to come in a separate bowl. We were too full for pudding.
The pub is full of character but unpretentious and the landlord and landlady were friendly and chatty.
Highly recommended

Called here last Saturday in April about 7:30pm off spec and nothing was too much trouble and landlady cooked just for us. Both of us went for the Steak and ale pie, one with mash one with chips, absolutely delicious.
The ale was perfect and the landlord and locals right friendly, nice fire going.
Loads of character and when we walked in there was 5 people sat round the fire, they welcomed us into their group, good company.
We shared a desert too 'Eden Mess' also delicious.
We will be back when we're up here again.
The drinks, meals and desert came to 50 something pounds, so didn't hurt the pocket.

Four of us having had a long walk, wandered in the pub!! Strange sense of atmosphere..
Not a pleasant greeting, was told to not let the pub dog out and abruptly told to just get in.. we told we couldn?t sit in one area of the bar,
All
Very abruptly by scruffy looking what we think was landlady! ..
rude and abrupt is the only way to describe the landlady, landlord friendly enough.
Needless to say.. would not go again.. would not recommend anyone else to visit!
Shame.. we really
Like to support small businesses.. and having been a landlady myself.. I know the greeting when entering the bar can make all
The difference.!!!!!

This pub is full of character and a warm welcome. I immediately liked the menu when I saw the option of a ham and beetroot sandwich. Had a fabulous pint of Plum Porter. Friendly hosts and will definitely be returning after enjoying the beautiful scenery that the Eden Valley offers. The nearby Rutter Falls are the perfect combination.

Found this little gem on our way back from Appleby. Cosy little pub with a very warm welcome. The landlord was really welcoming and very friendly, full of knowledge of the surrounding area. We had a light lunch which was cooked fresh and very appetising. Good value. Dog friendly even made friends with Ada, the resident border terrier.?

We called early lunch so it was still a little quiet. Fire ticking over and a welcoming smile from the Landlord.
Great pub for food. An out of the way place but a cracking find.

Extremely friendly people who run the New Inn. We walked to the pub from where we were staying and we were welcomed warmly. Nothing was too much trouble, Evan getting walk locations. The roast was superb ? highly recommend. Also dog friendly and they have their own friendly little dog. Small and very quaint 10/10

After a long walk we'd hoped for a refreshment stop. Hosts were welcoming, beer was good. Sadly the food was very poor and expensive for what it was.
