We stayed at the Rothay as a last minute break ,on arrival we were greeted by the receptionist who was very polite,the room was very clean and very beautifully presented and of a good size ,spa consists of a hydro pool, sauna, therapy room and also some heated lounges with beautiful view of the mountains and the well maintained gardens.evening meal was full of flavours and beautifully presented . Breakfast was an array of fruits ,pastries,yoghurts, cereals along with hot food from the kitchen.
Overall we had a lovely stay and worth every penny

Nice room, very spacious. Great spa.... Shame about the restaurant, slow service and got the order wrong. Glad it wasn't busy!
Food & drinks: Managed to get the order wrong despite there only being about 4 tables full. Burger wasn't great

My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon and it was perfect! The room was lovely, the spa was amazing, the food was delicious and we had the best massages we've ever had from the lovely massage therapist, Penny Irvine.

Beautiful hotel and grounds, lovely gardens. Had dinner on 1st night, it was included, but our main dish didn't state potatoes, so we ordered a portion of truffle fries, no truffle, Jersey royals, they weren't, we had to pay for sides, the cost for these including service charge was £19.50. We also had a packed lunch included which was dreadful, no butter on the sandwich, 2 overripe bananas, a cheap multipack packet of crisps, a packet of 2 biscuits, which was the best bit. Dreadful for a 4* hotel. Breakfast the following morning wasn't good, we ordered and it came straight away, rock hard sausage, 1 tiny flat mushroom, half a tomato and a slice of bacon. The tiny ring of black pudding was rock hard. Think all the Breakfast items must be cooked early and kept warm, very poor. The bread served at breakfast was delicious both mornings. A shame, because the hotel itself is lovely.Rooms: Lovely room, and big double sink shower room

A great hotel, located centrally in the village, ideal for going out walking (straight from the hotel door) and escaping it all in the Lakes.All the team were friendly and helpful, always on hand with efficient service, really delicious food for breakfast and dinner, with a loft room overlooking the fields and river.Ideal get-a-way with really good old school no fuss service!

I recently stayed at Rothay Garden Hotel over Easter weekend with my husband whilst 7 months pregnant with twins for a 'babymoon'. The hotel is stunning, when we checked in, we found that we had been upgraded for free which we were ecstatic about. The room we had been upgraded to had a luxury bath with a TV which our original room didn't have. The breakfast every morning was stunning and we booked into the hotel restaurant on one of the evenings and it was really nice then too. The staff can't do enough and we're really friendly. We also found that our room was cleaned every day whilst we went down for breakfast which was great.We used the spa on the day we checked in which was lovely but a little bit too warm for me being pregnant (no fault of the hotel) there were tables and chairs I could sit on outside the spa with a lovely view of the garden to cool down.The location of the hotel is really good as we spent a day in Keswick which is only a 20 minute drive. We also walked into Grasmere for a day which was well within walking distance (even in my state). Can't fault it at all, would definitely recommend to others.

Can't fault this place. The room was big and modern plus it had a balcony overlooking the river and surrounding hills. Stunning views.Food and service in the restaurant was excellent. The walls are mainly glass so you can take in the scenery while you eat. Very high quality dining experience, definitely a class above the norm and the staff can't do enough for you.We didn't use the spa so I can't comment on that, but it seemed popular.

Just spent a two night stay through secret escapes and both my partner and I were very happy at the Rothay.We found the hotel to be very clean and presentable, with friendly and attentive staff, a spacious and comfortable bedroom and of course the spa facility, which we had to ourselves following a 12 mile hike!The food was to a high standard, good service, with most options included within the deal which was also nice to see, and the lounge with fireplace was cozy and relaxing.For a weekend getaway the Rothay was great value, set in an idealistic landscape, and somewhere we didn?t want to leave.Rooms: The room was spacious with a comfortable bed, table and chairs, desk, wall mounted tv, but also a patio area with a river running directly past. Big bath with shower.Walkability: Abundance of walks from the hotel in any direction with both Grasmere and Rydal water for those who prefer a flat hike. Easedale tarn an easy and accessible walk with a waterfall on route - recommended.

Great stay at this hotel, which is in a fabulous location for Grassmere, Lake District. All requests made prior to arrival were completed by management team without issue. Comfortable room with beautiful view. Spa booking system thankfully suspended which made access easy and relaxed. Food good overall although a bit random in parts! Fantastic in room massage provided by Penny Irvine - highly recommend if you're looking for some relaxation and rejuvenation!!
