August 2023, Coffee was lovely as it always has been but the carrot cake was so dry I couldn't eat it and the lemon drizzle my partner had wasn't any better, at over £4 each we won't be going back. always loved this place until today.

Small but busy village, cars in particular, so keep youngsters close at hand, parking bit pricey with two hours for £4 first option,(no one hour available) garden centre always a place to wander and have a coffee or tea,

Very beautiful garden shop. Lots of plants outside and all kind of nice things inside. Got some really good help from a lovely lady. Inside is also a big place where you can have some tea.

Restaurant staff and garden centre staff are lovely, and a real pleasure to deal with. Cafe is great with a new menu and great quality food. Unfortunately the shop staff and in particular Christine, are not pleasant to deal with, and the female owner (Joanne?), is downright nasty. This is the 2nd time I've been treated unfairly and extremely rudely by both Christine and the female owner. I've spent thousands of pounds here in the last 6 years but I will no longer give this awful woman another penny.

Visited here before we had a walk to the top of the peaks in Grassmere. Just stopped for a coffee at first but then saw the menu and couldn?t refuse myself a Full English! Price very reasonable as well. Really delicious and excellent service. Dog friendly as well so we sat outside and really enjoyed. Definitely recommend!

Unfortunately St Oswalds church was closed & locked on this day, which was a shame, as I like to spend a few quiet moments of reflection in there. However, we did the riverside walk, which is always lovely - terrific views of the mountains & we did the usual visit to Wordsworth's grave in the churchyard. The garden centre across the road from the church is always a must. There are usually offers on planters etc. & there is a very nice cafe. The road out of the back of Grasmere takes you up Red Bank & on to Chapel Stile, a lovely run, but very steep.
